Xsitepro2 is good but a little pricey for me. But its filled with many features making site management a breeze.

i used to stick with xsitepro2, but it lacks lots of functions such as membership scripts, login script, etc.
i had to move to wordpress, and have never looked back since. i merely attended a course on wordpress design for about $200, and voila, things picked up.
cheaper than the xsitepro2 software!

If you are coding php-mysql, then "nusphere php editor" is one of the best. Another software I use is "nvu web editor". It is a great program as absolutely free (open source ).Dreamweaver is obviously best but its price very high if you want to use licensed copy.

Back when simple html and css was acceptable i used Notepad. But the last website i did was a little too advanced for just Notepad so i used Dreamweaver MX.
i think of all of the webeditors i've used Dreamweaver is the best. But pricey.
www.portableapps.com has a nice little webdesign application called KompoZer which is free, easy to use and can be carried around with you via a usb jump drive.

I use dreamweaver but recently got addicted to WYSIWYG web builder which is a very easy tool and is enough to do most of the simple designs
