I hope there are professional photographers in mylot that could help me with this problem. I have a Canon EOS Camera that I use in taking photos. I've been using this for two years and I liked using it even though I am not an expert or a professional. I just love to take pictures. The problem started last April of this year when I wanted to take pictures outside. When I clicked the button, an "error 99" was displayed on the LCD screen. My camera was not functioning. When I am inside a room and tried clicking the button, it functioned. I searched for ways of troubleshooting in google and I found one site that gives information. I tried it but its still not functioning when outside. What could be the cause and how will I fix this problem? I need to use my camera. Please help.

I've heard this "Error 99" is a common problem with Canons. I use a Nikon though, so I don't really know too much about it. Basically Error 99 is Canon's generic "something is wrong" message. It could be an incompatible lens, dirty contacts, a faulty memory card, ... anything. Sometimes it can be fixed by simply turning off the camera, removing the lens, cleaning the contacts, then putting the lens back on and turning the camera on. Other times the camera is completely broken and needs to be sent back to Canon. That is odd that it works inside but not outside. Is your f-stop ring positioned correctly?

I must read the manual. I am not an expert of this. I tried turning it off and cleaned but the same problem. Yes, it's really odd because it works well inside a room where there's not enough light. Good morning and your response is appreciated.
