I used to make greetings cards, but I got rid of all the materials because it was getting too much and making the place look cluttered. Now apart from my writing I don't have any craft work that I do and have been thinking of starting up another craft. Does anyone have any suggestions that would be an easy craft to take up that is therapeutic? I was thinking of making soap, but my husband said it is very messy and too much hastle. Any ideas would be appreciated.

It depends on how you do the soap. If you buy gliserin, melt it with coloring and perfume or just melt it and pour it into molds, soap making isn't bad. IF you start from scratch, with lye or ashes and fat, it can be really messy and dangerous.
What did you like about making greeting cards? Scrapbooking has many skills that are similar and the end product is all in a book.
What activities are therapeutic to you? Everyone is different, I have friends that find knitting and crocheting therapeutic and that stuff makes me nervous. So it all depends. Thanks and take care.

Hi thanks for your response I like the idea of being able to make soap safely. I also like the scrapbooking idea because it is a nice relaxing technique. Thanks for the suggestions. I enjoyed making greeting cards because I loved sticking things to the cards and having a nice result at the end so scrapbooking probably would be ideal for me. I also enjoy the idea below about making necklaces or bracelets.

I think you would really like scrapbooking because at then end it's all in one book instead of all over the house and it requires the same skills that you liked before.
But there is a lot to say about polymer clays for jewelry for sale or for gifts, then you don't have the stuff around the house. You can do the same for gylcerine soaps, too, give or sell. Take care

how about, making bracelets. Or try polymer clays. you can sell it after making it. or knitting, well that is if you are interested. try making quilts. there are lots of crafts you can make, dont worry you can do it. Go! :)

why not try cross-stitching? its quite relaxing actually. there are instances when you neer realize that it had taken so much of your time (especially if you're into it). i have some free patterns in my site (in my profile). just browse into them if you have the time.

Hi thanks for the idea actually I have tried to do cross stitching before, but it gave me a headache. I just found it so difficult. I have dyspraxia so I just couldn't handle it. I think to learn cross stitch I would actually need someone there to tell me how to do it. I couldn't work it out on my own.
