When did you start to get freckles?

When my nephew turned 5 all the sudden in the summer I noticed he had freckles on his cheeks and nose. I know he hadent had them before that and it got me thinking that I wonder if there is a certain age when children start to get freckles. My daughter is 4 and she doesnt have them yet. Do only red heads get freckles or other people as well? I get them in the summer all over my arms from the sun. If I keep sunblock on constantly then I don't get many but if I forget to put it on and go out in the sun at all they pop out all over.
