Has your done ever rolled in poop? how did you feel? what did you do?Today my dog did something nasty and something that he has never done before... today he rolled around in i think another dogs poop. At first i didn't know he was rolling around in poop. I thought he was just rolling around on the ground but i don't like him to do that anyway because it makes him itchy (something in the grass i guess) so i was trying to get him to stop and but then i noticed he was smelling something and then flopping back down and rolling in it! and when i looked at what it was.. it was poop! and again at first i was thinking "what the hell is wrong with you?!" your nasty man and all you did was earn yourself a bath! I took him home right away and gave him a bath and then i was wondering why he might do something like that and i was kind of worried because he has never done anything like this and ya never know why dogs do that things that do.. but after looking online i have found out that it is a " dog’s ancient instinct to mask his scent which would then enable the animal to sneak up on their prey without detection. Even if your dog does not hunt, she may not like the way that she smells—especially if you’ve just given her a bath! Or she just likes the smell of the feces." So that makes me feel okay now but i am still not happy he did that and i hope it is something he never does again. I think its weird how hes never done it till today and he is 2 years old but i guess there is a first time for everything.

I tell ya, our dog rolls in Horse or geese poop every friggin' day, I am like EWWW, Babe your dog is nasty.. he rolled in "poop" again, he stinks, he has a batth every day, which is no good for his coat I am told, but I am sorry he can roll in poop and then try to come into the house and lay on the carpet, couch, doggie bed, EWWWW! I heard that's why they do it, sneak up on what prey... he's a lil chichuah (spelling), now my other lil chihuah (oh how ever you spell it) is doing the same thing! The horse poop pile is bigger than they are! LOL

Dogs are so strange that way! My dogs are in a fenced yard so they don't have access to other dogs' poop but the dog next door--a wonderful dog who stays in her own yard and is so well behaved--found a pile in her front yard and rubbed her head in it. And she'd just had a bath and grooming! My neighbor didn't punish her, of course, but he was rather irate that the groomer had just done it and now he had to do it!

when we was in the country, my dogs would try to roll in the horse and cow poop. i thought it was because it smelled like grass. since thats what the cows ate. but never knew for sure. yuk

Yes I have this experience my dog roll in poop not once or twice but everytime he has an oppurtunity to.we love the dog so much my mom even rub victorias secet lotion around his body after bathing but get always disappointed when he mess up with poop. that's why we don't allow him to get out of the house unless his answering natures call.
