Is there another word for synonym?

Actually, come to think of it, not much really come to mind. I'm asking about like one word synonyms, not something with two words in it like, "similiar meaning" or something. I figure if synonym means two words are close in meaning, then doesn't that mean synonym should have a synonym too? I mean, I could think synonyms for other words better than the word itself... Strange.

That's really funny. I never thought about that: there really is no synonym for synonym. It stands alone and unaided. If you want to call something a synonym, you MUST call it a synonym, nothing else. While we're on the subject, could someone please, PLEASE explain to me why abbreviation is such a ridiculously long word? Interestingly enough, there's no synonym for abbreviation either. What a crazy language!

Haha, I know! I went on an online dictionary to search for synonyms, there were none! Funny!
