As I said in a previous discussion, I just cleaned my utility room I mean really good. Now I don't want my rugs and shoes where they are. I want them moved but don't know what to do. This is the picture I'll try to draw for you. As you come in the back door, I have my front loader washer and dryer with the drawers under them to the right. The tater bin is to the right. If you walk straight you'll go into the guest bathroom. If you turn left you'll go into the kitchen. Well, my problem is as you come in the back door I have a rug to wipe your shoes on and then to the right just in front of the washer/dryer I have a rug to put our shoes on when we take them off. Well, if I want to get something out of the washer/dryer drawers, I have to move the shoes. I have read where someone suggest taking your shoes off and taking them and putting them where they belong in the bedrooms. Then I hae read that if you clean your shoes good enough you can wear them through the house and it won't mess up the house. That is really not my question here though. I don't know what to do with the shoes when we pull them off. All your suggestions will be read and appreciated. Thanks and God bless you!

Can you build a little shelf or box of some sort that can go over your washer/dryer instead of in front of it? Or to the side or something?

Is there enough room there to maybe put a shoe rack? Possibly hanging on the wall next to the door. I know where you are coming from and I have 3 kids that like to come in with ucky shoes. :)
We just have a mat outside the door on our porch and they usually put their shoes there. Is there an enclosed walkway or deck there?
I probably wasn't any help and they are just ideas! :) Good luck with the shoes.

Thanks so much for your input. We are going to build a sunroom and that will help LOTS! but for now there is not room for a shoe rack anywhere. I just cannot figure out anywhere to put those dirty shoes unless I just leave them on the deck and hope it doesn't rain LOL. Thanks and God bless you!

I think for now the best thing you can do is allow one pair per family member to be in the utility room. All others need to find homes elsewhere. Then buy a cheap dollar store basket to place the remaining shoes in. The basket can still sit on the floor if you want but if the shoes are all contained in a basket it will be easier to move them out of the way when you need to use the washer and dryer.
