Eating from a table in the sky...

This is crazy but, sort of looks a little fun too! Go here: http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,,22209544-27977,00.html I am hoping that link will work. Let me know if it did or didn't please! So, here is the scoop. A man in Amiens, France has opened a restaurant...for lack of a better way to put it, where you sit, strapped into a chair, at a table that is suspended into the air 160 feet above the ground. He has waiters and a chef serving 6 courses on a platform. Basically, you pre-order your food when you make the reservation and that is what you are served. This is crazy and exciting and, something that I might be interested in doing if something like this ever came to the U.S. and to my state. I like thrills and, this would definitely be one! What do you all think? Would you want to eat from a table suspended 160 feet in the air by a crane? Or, would you be too nervous?

Why in the world would you want to do that? I mean, what is the point of doing that? You will be so preoccupied with the fact that you are 160 feet above ground, you will never enjoy the food that is being served! Also, paying a premium for that? Why not just hire a crane and do the same and get a pizza at the same time. Cheap and good! The crazy things people can come up with. And the crazy extend that other people would go to to get an adrenaline rush!

I think my nerves would get the better of me and the butterflies would mess with my appetite. LOL! And, I can't even begin to imagine how much one would have to pay for this experience. It can't be cheap since they can't possibly have a lot of these meals each night. How many of these could they actually do since the food has to be pre-selected and, it isn't like there is more than one table up there at a time. LOL! It just seems sort of impractical...not to mention dangerous! LOL!

A friend of mine had emailed photos of this "restaurant" sometime ago, but this is the first time I've seen a video about it. As for me? Would I want to eat high in the sky like that? Mmm....kind of afraid of heights..and one burning question..where do you go to the bathroom?

LOL! I wondered that about the bathroom too but, I guess you just have to hold it and wait until you get back on the ground before you can go. LOL! That, in and of itself, might keep me from trying this because, this would scare me into some nausea and, I would probably really need to use the bathroom several times. LOL!

Any thing for a thrill isn't it. Not for me, I want my feet planted on the ground. You know that those cranes do sway with the wind. Even the skyscrapers sway but at least they have walls around them. I don't handle heights that well.

I kind of wondered about the wind factor in it. I would have to imagine that the table is pretty heavy and, I am sure the made precautions to keep it from swaying too much. Otherwise, they are putting people below the table, on the ground, at risk of having something from the table fall off it and hit them. But, I would imagine that there is still some wind factor up there. And, I have a fear of both heights and close spaces combined so, this might send me into a panic attack which would end up preventing me from being able to eat. LOL!

I'm afraid this wouldn't be my cup of tea! I don't care for heights anymore. For one thing, I get vertigo. That would really be an unpleasant experience! lol Not only for me, but for the other diners! lol It made me dizzy just watching it. No, I'll stay on the ground, I think. Pie in the sky is not for me. :P

LOL! Pie in the sky...LMAO! I have to wonder how this will work out for the guys that started it. From what I have seen in this discussion, only one person would be interest and, even he joked about it so, I can't imagine that many people actually taking part in it and the guys being able to keep the business up. But, then again...there are a ton of thrill seekers out there so, maybe there is more interest in it than we are seeing in this discussion. LOL!

The link worked fine, but whoa, who on earth in their right mind would want to do that! It looks horrible, I would not be able to eat a thing I would be so nervous I would just want to be back on terrafirma. I am not really a thrillseeker anymore, used to be but now I am just happier with my feet on the ground.

LOL! I think I like my feet on the ground better than up in the air too. In fact, I used to climb trees, roller skate and ride a bike like it was my job. Now, I am afraid of heights combined with small spaces...doesn't get much higher and smaller than that. Well, maybe higher but, that combination would likely be enough to put me into a tailspin. I also can't roller skate anymore. I am too stiff and scared of falling on my butt. And, they say that you never forget how to ride a bike. That is true but, my anxiety level is pretty high now when riding a bike that I clench my hands around the handle bars and am in constant fear of falling off the bike. So, I can honestly say that my bravery has definitely come to a plummet since my younger years. Weird how that works! LOL! Yup...I think I am with you about preferring to keep my feet on the ground. Although, give me a good roller coaster and I am there!

Oh no! LOL I could never do that! It seems like a very neat idea. But i am absoultly terrified of heights. I would get up there and not eat because I was so scared!

LOL! That would be my concern! Spend all that money to get up there and be too nervous to eat. It looks fun but, I don't think it is very practical.

We had this thing in Toronto for a while. I wouldn't do it. I don't have a problem with heights, but, the movement would probably make me sick.

I have to wonder about that too. But, I am sure they secure it somewhat steady enough because otherwise, too much rocking and rolling with any wind would mean things possibly falling off the table and hitting someone on the ground below. I would have to imagine it costs a pretty penny too so, it is likely pretty much out of my price range. LOL!

I saw this in one of the e-mails and I know I'll never try that. Lol. I'm deathly afraid of heights and I won't even be able to eat anything much less keep it in. If they make that a challenge in fear factor, I know I will absolutely LOSE. Lol. I can just imagine the different shades my face would go through the higher up we go... 20 feet... red.. 50 feet... pale red... 80 feet... pale.... 100 feet... gray... 130 feet... grayish white... 160 feet.... parch white... LOL. By the time the food comes around, I think I'd have passed out from the fear. So there. I stand by my firm decision that I don't want to go there... harhar.

LOL! I think I might be right there with you as far as color changes. I am afraid of heights and small spaces combined so, that would probably bring on a panic attack. I love adventurous stuff...to a point. Roller coasters? Bring them on! The higher, the scarier...the better. But, eating up in the air at a table suspended from a crane...really, I don't think I would be doing much eating. LOL! I am still curious though and, would still consider it a little but, probably chicken out.

LOL! I have a combined fear of heights and tight places so, while I think it might be fun, I wouldn't get much eating down with a ClaustroAcrophobic panic attack! LOL!

Sign me up! The only time I ever did something like that was when I had tea on the ceiling with sweet young lass. You may have heard of her... Mary Poppins? So anyways, she was singing this song about how a spoonfull of sugar helps to relevie some odd ailment. Anyways, since we were sitting at a table that was on the ceiling, upside down, when I went to take a sip of my tea I managed to pour it up my nostrils. That was the last time I had a meal while floating in the air, and incidently, it was also the last time I dropped acid while watching the Disney Channel.

LMAO! So, I can call it a date? You and me and a few of our closest strangers 160 feet in the air enjoying 6 courses of God only knows what goes with clouds? LOL! And, because you won't be hanging upside down, you won't have to worry about that pesky tea up your nose! LOL!

LOL! I have eaten in one of those rotating restaurants a couple of times. And, I do have a bit of a fear of heights when combined with tight spaces and, this might be one of those fearful situations for me given the fact that I am strapped into a chair, high above the Earth with no room to move more than my hands and maybe my elbows a little! LOL!

Not even if it meant I couldn't eat at a table again....I wouldn't be suspended that high off the ground for any reason I can think of. Amazing what people will come up with to have us try, isn't it?

I'd rather not. Its a bit expensive and im not particularly fond of heights either. It'd be pretty funny if someone spewed and it lands on someone below!!!

LOL! I was just saying (above) that I would imagine that they have to have it so that the table doesn't move too much because then something could fall off the table and hit someone on the ground below. I didn't even think about someone getting nauseous and throwing up onto someone down below. And, what happens if you drop a utensil as sometimes happens in restaurants! LOL! Oops...I went to have a unique dining experience and ended up killing someone down below when my fork speared through their brain. Yikes!

No way in He** would I even think about it! I like my food served on a table that is sitting comfortably on the floor! What are they insane! Why would anyone want to eat at a table suspended 160 feet in the air? What is the purpose of this? I can't imagine how or why anyone would have dreamed this up and actually gotten people to come there and eat! This is really crazy!

LOL! I would be intrigued and potentially up for it but, my nerves would probably win out and keep me on the ground looking for something a little less adventurous as far as an eating experience! LOL! I have to admit that it is an innovative idea but, it doesn't seem very practical and, need I mention...dangerous? LOL!

I have seen that before and I don't want to do it. It would frak me out to be that high up. I know they are strapped in but the wind still has to move them around enough to make it a little freaky. Plus there is the price. I can't imagine doing something like this would be like sitting in the playland and the local fast food place. Dropping that kind of money on one meal doesn't excite me either.

I thought about how expensive it must be too. Also, imagine how long the waiting list for this kind of thing would be? How many meals a day do you think they could prepare? I can't imagine they can book more than one reservation a day. And, with it being 6 courses, that would be difficult too. The wind, I don't know. I would imagine that the table is heavy enough to sustain most of the wind without too much movement. But, I would also think that people would get blown to bits up there. The chairs and table may be sturdy but, hair might be an issue! LOL!
