Most of the time, especially when posting a response in emails, chats, forums. I usually use smileys like ^___^ :D and ofcourse Japanese emoticons/smilies. I find it cute and ofcourse its one way also in expressing your feelings by just posting simple smileys like that.

I love smileys, always have ever since I have had my computer, I started collecting them and I have thousands in my collection, I think I probably have a smiley to cover almost any subject they are so happy looking...

I seldom use smileys, but I do love them. I usually use common ones like :) , :)) , =) , :P , ;p , :D . Usually used it on YM and for text messaging. But not always, only when I find it funny or if it really deserves a smily.
