Hi, Dixie!
I have floaters, and they drive me crazy. I thought I was going blind the first time I saw one, so I ran to the eye doctor. She explained that they're very common, and my diabetes makes me more susceptible than healthier people. I told her I just wanted to get rid of them, because I kept thinking someone or something was just past my peripheral vision. She just laughed, and said I have to get used to it, because there's nothing that will get rid of them. Then she showed me how to get them out of the way when they get annoying. Just close both eyes and hit yourself in the temples! It sound ridiculous, but it works. Just hit one side at a time, or they won't move, but they can be moved one at a time. Sometimes it even works just to shake your head really hard. If you see something like little fireworks going off in your peripheral vision, they are another type of floater unless you have migrains, which can cause the explosions of light, too.
Good luck!

HI,
I also, have floaters...mostly black dots..I read somewhere to look towards the ceiling very slowly and then all the way down to the floor..that helps some.
One day, I was sitting on the couch and sneezed hard...I remember that sneeze cause, I recall thinking that has to be the hardest sneeze of my life!
Later, I went upstairs to get on my computer and noticed I could not see good out of my right eye and there was like a million of those black dots!! I was horrified...I'm Deaf and my eyes are my ears!!
I went to my regular dr. who set me up for seeing a specialist the next day.
After I came home, I became a "nervous nellie" and decided to go over to DOC..to see my doctor there....he had the equipment to see that I had a tear in my retina!!
HE called me in then for emergency eye care....I got to the specialist and he immediately did eye surgery to prevent the retina from detaching. This is what my floater is all from and it comes and goes but, I want you and others to know if all of the sudden you see a lot of black dots...get to a retinal specialist immediately. When the retina completely detaches, it is very serious surgery and no guarantee you will be able to see!!
I can not think of the name of that surgery...he froze something it was laser surgery or cryotherapy (freezing)..and it was successful! I thank God often for t hat miracle!!
Blessings,
Dixie

Thank God you're OK. I'll call my eye doctor first thing Monday to make sure her testing included retinal attachment. I think she does check that, but I want to make sure.
That's important information, and I'm sure many others join me in thanking you for it.
