I found out a surprising little factoid about volcanoes today. Like a hot headed bully, one volcano can push another volcano to erupt if it isn't quite dormant but isn't ready to blow it's stack while the other one is having a proper snit. This is happening on the Aleutians, and it looks like a whole crocodile file of school children pushing each other from behind. * Story~ http://scienceblogs.com/highlyallochthonous/2008/08/volcanoes_triggering_volcanoes.php?utm_source=sbhomepage&utm_medium=link&utm_content=channellink

That is very interesting - I think volcanoes are FACINATING. Not that I want to be too close to a violent eruption - tho I'd like to go see the ones in Hawaii. I wish there were more shows on them, but they are so very dangerous I can understand why there aren't.

Ain't that the truth! Even to live in paradise, I don't think I'd live THAT close to one of those thing!

Technically, that includes anywhere in Hawaii, as that volcano is the highest peak on this planet. Most of it's under water so most people don't realize just how high it is. * Another spot you don't want to be near is Yellowstone National Park. The home of Old Faithful? That park is sitting on a Caldera, which is nothing but a cone-less super sized volcano. Then again, if that puppy goes, anywhere in the United States, or this planet is basically out. * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowstone
