I'd like to pose a question for all of the would-be reporters out there: You have finally achieved your goal of becoming a news reporter and landed your dream job. My question to you is this: In which area of reporting would you like to be assigned? 1. Hard-hitting crime reporting 2. Human Interest stories 3. The society pages 4. Sports 5.Community-related news. I could see myself as the crime reporter because I've always had a burning curiosity about all aspects of crime. I'd like to know the area you think you would excel in, please.

I'd like to be assigned to community-related news. I love to see what's going on with community activities, activism, neighborhood get-togethers, fund raisers, you name it. I just don't have the time or the means to do this on my own, so it would be great to have a job and the resources to see what's going on in the city. I think this would trickle on over to a little of the human interest and society, but not too much.

You sound so enthusiastic about this, whittby, as though it is something you would like to pursue. Why not? I am sure you would make a very successful reporter.

I actually did work for awhile as both photographer and article writer for a local newspaper and did the "human" interest stories of the community. As for what kind of reporter I'd be now...well since I'm involved with animal rights, would bring out issues out about that, but I would also want to report about positive endearing stories as well, not just about animals but people too. I guess bottom line I would rather report on more positive aspects of life in general as there's enough negativity in the world

I believe you'd make an excellent reporter, pyewacket, since I have personal knowledge of some of your articles from another site. It's true that there is a lot of negativity out there, and it would take a lot out of a person to have to report on this aspect of society from day to day.

For me, it would have to be human interest. I am curious about everything and I enjoy the slightly offbeat. I think it would make for the most variety.

There is a lot to be learned from human interest stories, GG, and I'm certain your curiosity would never go unsatisfied.

I really wouldn't want to be a reporter honey but that is more because I have came across so many that don't verify stories and if they do they twist it to make all the facts sound like something they weren't and I have seen people hurt because of that. Hold on a second, ok I am down off my soap box now! lol so to answer your question I would probably prefer Human interest Stories and get to meet some amazing people! xxx

I've learned, mummymo, that there are some who are willing to bring shame upon any profession they choose to pursue, but I believe that most reporters are conscientious and objective. I've always heard that in order to be a good reporter one would have to remain objective in spite of personal feelings.

You know what sweetheart I am sure that you would be a great reporter and I know that there are many more out there! I just wish we had more reporters with integrity here. I may be cynical - I have just came across too many reporters who twist things beyond belief. Well 2! xxxx

I would be a crime reporter because im interested in things to do with crime (I mean reading and watching not taking part lol). I love reading real life crime stories and watching documentaries. Other than that I would be a showbuisness reporter mixing with the rich and famous and going to all the different parties and premieres lol.

Crime is a broad category that reveals much about the world we live in, donna. Maybe that is why I have always been so fascinated by it. I think it would be very exciting, however, to report on the rich and famous and their antics.
