I am trying to create my family tree for myself and my kids. I want to go back as far as I can, but it's hard because my parents don't know many of their grand parents and great grandparents and so on. I've tried searching online to find records that will help me, but everything cost and I am in a bad situation with finances right now. Does anyone know a site I can go to or a way I can get the information I need to do my family tree?

Oh yes! Ancestry.com is great and often offers free databases for ten days when they are new.
It can also be accessed at most public libraries for free.
I started my research for free at the Mormon Family History Centers.
They are worldwide and free to use, although if you have to order a film, they ask you to pay for shipping. It is about 5 dollars a roll of film.
They also offer assistance so you can learn how.
You can check the census, so if you know your parents names and birth city, where they lived during the census years, that is often enough to get started.
There are many online genealogy groups that offer assistance too.
I love to help people as it seems easier than finding my own family!
You can post what you know to a website and sit back and let the extended family find you!
I found at least five second, third and fourth cousins that nobody knew about.
families lose touch often, but ancestry.com and rootsweb.com are great services. Start with rootsweb.com
, the free part that now partners with ancestry.
Every country has census and baptism records, just about every one.
You can tell me or message me and I will try to help!

I sent you a link for hamilton County,
http://www.genealogylinks.net/usa/florida/hamilton.htm
Also, what I said above, the five dollars per film is for the postage from Utah to your local Family History Center and you do not get to keep the film, but can view it while it is there, maybe for three weeks! They are extremely nice and do not try to convert you!

I have planned to create our family tree also, but we have the same problem because my mother does not knew our other relatives. Good thing that your respondents here suggested some website that could be of help. I will try them also. Thank you and happy MyLotting.

I see someone has mentioned Family Search. I like using that site too. However, there's also another website that I love using. It's called Rootsweb.com and I have been able to find loads of ancestors and family members on there. The only bad thing is that you can't see any information on any living people. Using it, I've been able to trace my family tree back to 1665. I hope you can get the same kind of luck with it.
