Do you believe in Destiny?

Would you like to find your Bashert? In jewish tradition your Bashert is the person that complements you perfectly. Of course its believed whoever you marry, whether they complement you or not - they are your Bashert because it was ordained by god. What do you think - do you have someone you're "destined"(bashert means destiny) to be with? Is there more then one person out there that could be your Bashert? Do you think you may have found them in your past but not recognized them as such? Is there a word in your language or culture that means this? I know that my Taiwanese mother in law believes you can tell if two will work out because they start to look the same in the face or always have. What do you think?

its wikipedia definition:- "whom ever one marries ,whether the marriage is perfect or not ,its by definition ones bashart becz here marriage is foreordained by god who controls the world or universe" i dont think anybody controls....it seems totaly idiotic.... i think humans make their destiny by their own actions.....nature plays a important role here....

The nicest thing is when our paths converge and we can share how we see life - like now!

i think no body controls us....everybody hav different paths....people should be aware of indiviual path....then we create our destiny.... in our punjabi culture there not any special name....

I do believe in destiny and I do believe there is a Bashert or Basherta out there for everyone. But I don't think marriage has to be the result. My Bashert Must agree that we don't have to marry or have children because I don't want either. In fact if a guy thinks he is the one but he insists that we marry, then I know he isn't the one for me. I believe if you are to live with your Bashert or Basherta you do find him or her. But there are people who for some reason it is written that they don't live with their Bashert or Basherta.I do believe everything is written, good and bad.

Yes I do believe in destiny. That there is somebody for you out there. Waiting for the right time and right place to enter your life.

Do you have a word in your culture that is equal to Bashert - for fated true love?

mickalotz - I'm so happy you've found one! I do think that its not something you go looking for - sometimes we have a specific list of what we're looking for... and our Bashert turns out not to match that list. I always think its funny when people I know say they're taking a break from relationships, or even - no more guys! And its then that they find it - when they're not looking!

well, for me i believe "Destiny" is building a bridge to your loved one., meaning if you're into serious relationship, if you want to end up together then you have to work on it., both of you must have a willingness to work on it and make the best of that relationship.,

Sounds like you believe we build our own fate or destiny. So do you have anything like the word bashart, which means destiny or soulmate in your culture?
