Wheelie bin Tuesday or Bottle Wednesday?

I would like to sincerely thank my local council for not only providing me with the mans to dispose of my household rubbish and garden waste but also for providing m with mental challenges which keep my ageing brain nimble.
It's better than Nintendo's Brain Training game!
Each week we have to figure out, well here's the easy bit, EVERY Tuesday the regular garbage goes out in the wheelie bin.
But every other Tuesday we're invited to put out the Brown Bin which must only contain garden waste such as hedge trimmings, tree clippings and grass cuttings.
No food, nothing else but garden waste. Incidentally, when does a raw unused cabbage translate from being a plant and therefore garden waste, into food? If it was cooked, I could understand it. I think I need an aspirin.
So, is is THAT Tuesday? No, not today.
Saving the planet is hard work but every other Wednesday we can put out the green box which contains all our used tin cans and glass bottles.
Confused yet? You WILL be....

If you think your confused already, wait until Christmas when the whole calendar will shuffle about. They'll send you colour coded charts which will challenge your slightly befuddled and over fed brain to the max. However, even if you work it out and get the right bin out at the right kerb on the right day, the bin men will be hungover and won't show. Of course, you'll never realise the real reason, and just assume it's because you got it wrong.

I know that feeling well, well my hubby knows it more as he is the one that has to keep putting them out! Ours are all done on Thursdays, one thursday is just the normal household rubbish and then the following thursday is the brown bin, paper and recyclables.
It is a nightmare sometimes remembering which week we are on though, and we often have to look out of the window. I dont mind this new system, although I have just two complaints about it, 1)is the amount of those huge great big blo flys we are getting outside, there are hundreds of them and wasps. 2) is we actually have rats now coming into the garden!1 person likes this

Hi MichaelJay, All I need to remember is Thursday but very early, my noraml waste has to be out of the bin shed ready for collection by 7am but if I put out the night before the cats, foxes and seagulls have demolished all the nags by morning, joy. Every other Thursday the recycling van comes round but the guys are brilliant and come up to collect from my door step where my recycling bin is placed, all other recycling I do a trip at the same time as the weekly shop with cardboard and plastic that doesn't get collected from the door empty out at the recycling centre and then off to do the shop as this is the only time I always use the car, I walk most places these days. Ellie :D

Our refuse collecting/recycling scheme is identical to yours. In my absent mindedness by green glass and tin box is full to over flowing because i keep forgetting which wednesday it needs to go out! We did have a 'calendar' with exact dates to put our recycling out but thats long vanished lol i do feel a roadside plastic recycling scheme would benefit greatly, i for one would have my household waste reduced significantly, ah well, maybe some time this century....
