A woman met a man while they were playing second life and tried to kidnap him in "real" life!
"Kimberly Jernigan from Durham, N.C.,..face charges including attempted kidnapping.
Jernigan drove to the man's apartment armed with a stun gun, handcuffs and duct tape. But she fled when the man came home, discovered her and called 911.
Police said the two had met online on Second Life. ..the man broke off the relationship after they met in person."
I shortened the story so you wouldn't get bored. But wow, have you ever had anything like this happen to you, or know someone who has? I can hardly believe some of the things people do. This woman is obviously unbalanced. I'm glad the man wasn't injured.
Do you know anyone who is obsessed with a game? Are you?

There has been an increase-in acts or publicity, I don't know which-of women acting in this manner. I don't know why, but it's scary. I'm glad you don't have that!

I've heard of the game but never played it. I've seen someone on here who met their husband/boyfriend on that game too. That is so scary, he's lucky he didn't get hurt. I couldn't imagine meeting someone online and having them know who I am and where I live.

I've met a lot of people from my guitar forum but I've known most of them for about 10 years now and only starting meeting them about 4 years ago. The ones I haven't met still know nothing about me and I never reveal anything online, just because of nuts like that lady!

That's very scary. I feel sorry for the man; he'll probably never be able to have fun in Second Life again after that experience. I know some people obsessed with games but they don't really try to meet their gamer friends offline -- going offline is the last thing they want to do! Why meet someone offline when you could play games with them online? :) Many people are concerned about gaming addictions these days, but somehow I think the addicted gamers are a lot healthier than those who try to meet people online with sinister, offline motives in mind.

I heard recently that there are even in-patient rehabs for people addicted to the computer! One woman was addicted to internet shopping and bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff--while she was in rehab!
There was something wrong with that kidnapping woman before she started to play that game. It just gave her the opportunity.

wow i was thinking about messing around with Second Life, but i guess like in the real world you have to be careful with who you interact with.
i saw something on TV the other day where a couple met on Second Life, started a "virtual" relationship, met in real life, and now they're happily married.
go figure.

You just have to be very careful. No need not to enjoy a game, just don't give out any info on yourself. Most people are ok, but the nuts out there gravitate towards the computer a lot.

I would not want to look for love on the internet, might get someone like this!
I think if someone is obsessed with games, that's a warning sign of poor mental health.

Wow, that's something. While I would like to meet many of my online friends, I know that the majority of people online are not the same as in real life. You just don't see all the little idiosyncrasies that people have. For instance, you don't know that I don't smile a whole lot and I'm not a good housekeeper online.
I don't know anyone who this has happened to in real life and I hope I never do.

With me, what you see online is what you get! But the chance of meeting someone like that woman increases every day. Too bad, I've met a lot of good friends online.

That's nuts. I'm sure people that do this sort of thing aren't completely right in the head in the first place, like you said.
I'm not familiar with that game, but I'll bet the traffic to that site will increase exponentially with all the publicity!

You'd be surprised how many there are! The games are better than their own lives so they live in that world as much as possible. Meanwhile, their real lives get worse.

I can think of no one who is so obsessed to a game to think it as part of real life
