I finally got it

my new steam mop - I wasn't so sure it would work as they said, but it did. My floors are looking great and I"m very happy with it.

And I'm impressed. Maybe I was lucky because, frankly, the reviews I read were quite mixed. I thought about buying one for quite some time. I wasn't sure it would work for what I wanted and needed it. Still the idea seemed good and I decided to finally give it a try. I got my steam mop during the weekend and tried it as soon as I got home. It actually worked!!!! It even worked really well LOL Between the mess from kids and pets I had areas in my home that weren't up to par. I had tried many things but either they didn't work or required so much scrubbing and polishing that I ended up giving up. Now I finally remembered that the tiles in my kitchen are certainly more white than beige hehe I first though about buying some triangular one that was in the sears catalogue. But I couldn't find information on it, and I really like to get a better idea before buying. I read some stuff about the shark steam mop and since it was available close to me I decided on that one. It actually worked as promised! Steam coming out in about 30 seconds. Good bursts of steam. THe system for the pad to attach to the mop is quite good and the mop doesn't slide out of place. I used it in the areas that were worse first and it didn't take long to see the difference, then I finished the whole kitchen and did the bathroom too before I run out of water, so the claims that the container was too small and that it wasn't even enough to clean one room were unfounded. It's a keeper. Do you have a steam mop? Which one do you have? What can you say about it?

Wow Arkaf, steam mop? What kind of ingenious invention is that? To be honest, I have not come across such an invention. For, I usually keep the place clean by vacuuming the floor every now and then when I am not lazy and the place is unbearably dirty. We don't really mop the floor (or use rags) anymore because that is too tedious for frequent "enjoyment". So this steam mop will make the floor wet and burns the bacteria as well? It sounds kinda cool. I hope it doesn't set you back too much...

LOL it is quite a nice idea my Lord. The great thing is that is does sanitize the floors and they're dry instantly. No need to go around with the bucket and mop and then have to wait for it to dry. It really cleans nicely specially when the floors are looking old because just the mop and bucket sometimes don't do it all. MY kitchen floor tiles had been looking kind of beige for ages. It was only after I used this that I remember that they were much more white than beige LOL It wasn't extremely expensive compared to whatever is around in the marked. It cost me about $70. But it was on sale. I think it's about $90 when not in sale. I do have another one that is not steam, that I use every day, but I will use this one probably weekly when I'm doing a deeper cleaning.

Dry instantly? Why does the steam go then? Wouldn't the floor still be "moist"? Maybe you need to "polish" your floor. I think there are some special solutions around... Have fun mopping!

The floor is wet as I pass the mop and use the steam but because it's so hot, it dries really fast. It only takes a bit longer to dry when I have been using it for a few minutes and the cloth pad is already quite wet.

We have not bought on yet, but were thinking about it. I have the hand steamer that is used for getting into nooks and crannies and for sanitizing sinks and toilet bowls and that sort of thing, but it is a little messy, because the shot of steam tends to send the germs off into the air and redeposit them everywhere. This steam mop sounds a little better contained. Is it? We have some other Shark products that we like. Does the one you have work on the carpet too? We recently got an H20 vac and love it, as the dry kind, even with HEPA filters always seemed to just kick the dirt around. I am interested in upgrading all of our cleaning stuff to the kind that is most efficient and doesn't just make a bigger mess. I'll be reading the comments here with interest and hopefully benefiting from your research and that of other members.

Well, personally I am quite happy with it. I have read different reviews where people complained that the water tank was too small, or it leaked, and other things. I found the water tank to be enough to clean both my kitchen and washroom with one fill. But even if I had to refill it takes only 30 seconds for the steam to start so it's not much. As for sending up the germs up into the air again, I will think that the cleaning pad would absorb most of it. ANd the good thing is that the floor is dry in seconds. It does have an attachment for carpets, but I don't have any, so I am not sure how well it will work. They actually also have an H20 model in steam mops but I heard they leak... then again I also heard that about this one so who knows :) It comes with 2 cleaning pads and they do get really dirty, specially the first time I used them in a room. But they are machine washable. They suggest to let them air dry. As I said, so far I am quite satisfied with it. But because of all the mixed reviews I read, I'm kind of paying extra attention to everything.

Thank you so much! I had no idea Thane made one. Apparently the leaking water on the florr bit comes from incorrect usage: http://www.infomercialratings.com/product/h2o_steam_mop_reviews You have saved me a lot of research time. :-)

great!! is it so costly then? any pic so that i can visualize it or any site? im interested though..well mine is sponge like that will absorb wetness and dirt and no need to touch it to do some washing after used since all i have to do is push downward and upward the holder that connects it..actually its jsut a cheap kind of mop but its very useful ..

COmpared to the prices here, it is not that costly. The thing with the mop and water is that after a while and when I am really busy and can't scrub, there is some grime and grease - specially in the kitchen - left in the floor that adds up with time. The steam does take that out nicely. ANd it doesn't need detergents to clean. I hate to go around carrying the mop or pushing it around. After a while the water is dirty and I have to go throw it out and get new one. With this one I don't have to do that. I do have another one that is really good too and also does not need the bucket, but I'll review it in another discussion.

IS this for tile floors only or carpets? How much did you pay? Brand name? I might be interested if I move to a home that has more floors than this aparatment. But... I want one for carpets, but one that is light weight. I have a steam cleaner but it, although no bigger than a vaccum, is so heavy from the water in the resurvor and I guess just being heavier anyway.. I can't use it! I can't push it!! My husband is to lazy to do it so there it sits! But I would sure like to hear if you have or know of a light weight carpet cleaner - for traffic areas or spots - not the entire room. I guess I can actually say "Happy Cleaning" to you now!!! Sounds like you are!

Good morning, my friend :) It does have an attachment for carpets but I am not sure how good it will work on them since I don't have any. Maybe the attachment will help it to glide on the carpet but really I don't know how well it will work on them. I read on a review that it did "refresh" the look on the carpet. I don't know what that means in term of cleaning it. The one I got is a shark and it cost me around $70 but it was on sale. I think the regular price is $90. But you are in the states and the prices are usually lower by a bit there. Since it's just for spot cleaning your looking for, maybe it will do the trick but I'm not too sure about that.Try and check reviews on it. Here's a few links. In one of them I read that even with the carpet attachment it doesn't do much for carpets. http://www.viewpoints.com/Shark-Steam-Mop-Shark-Steam-Mop-reviews http://www.viewpoints.com/Bissell-Steam-Mop-reviews http://www.viewpoints.com/THANE-H2O-STEAMER-MOP-reviews http://www.oztion.com.au/Community/topic.aspx?t=garden&tid=266720 As I said, very mixed reviews. The last one actually has one person that uses it on carpets and seems to be happy with it. It's about 4th or 5th review on the page. But this reviews are for the H20, not for the sharp. It seems that the weaker one, from all I've read is the lysol one. THat one got more negative reviews than the rest.
