Blue magic..... a better option

better than swiffer!!!! - Another great idea for spot cleaning or day to day floor cleaning.
I really like the idea of this better approach. I liked swiffer but this one gives me exactly the same without the extra costs for detergent bottle, throw away pads and batteries.

I guess now that school is almost starting again, I have been concerned with having my house nicely clean because I know once I start working I won't have as much time to do it,hence all the discussions about cleaning LOL After talking and reviewing my shark steam mop, I remembered another thing that I bought that has made my life easier. I think I already mention that my patience for cleaning is not at the highest. Some things I don't like that much and one of them is going around with a mop and bucket of water. After awhile we're just moving the dirt from one place to another or we have to go on countless trips to refill the bucket. That's why, when I saw the swiffer wet jet I thought immediately " come to mommy! ":) But the swiffer becomes costly. We have to buy the bottle with the detergent. We have to buy the pads that are then thrown out after using. And we even have to buy the batteries. It worked nicely, but after a while I started looking at how much I was spending and it didn't sound as good anymore. I kept thinking to myself that it would be nice if we could refill the bottle, or if the pads were reusable/washable. Well some months back I found the solution. It is called Blue Magic mist-n-mop. And it's basically a swiffer without all the extra costs. It has a bottle that can be refilled - I can use just plain water, or mix the water with any detergent I choose. - The pads are cloth instead of paper, so they can be washed and used again and again - the package says they should be good for a minimum of 100 washes but mine lasted longer. I guess because I don't throw them in the machine and wash them by hand. -. And it uses no batteries. It cost me $20 and it was on sale so it came with 5 extra cloth pads which was great I still have them unused except for the first one that is still good. I did like the idea of the swiffer but this one brings me the same without the extra costs. Ok the swiffer handle seems a bit sturdier than this one, but it's not that I have run into any problems with it. And yes, I did have some trouble assembling the handle. I couldn't twist it into position, but hey... I called hubby and he had it done in no time:) Other than that it works perfectly and does what I need it to do. I usually have it filled with water only, or water and vinegar, and it does clean both my tiled floor and my wood floors. If I need something stronger for grease or something I just spray a bit of my regular all use cleaner wipe and spray a bit of water to clear it up. It takes much less to dry than using a mop because there's less water being swished from side to side. It probably is not for everyone, some people will still prefer the traditional mop and bucket. But for the ones that like the swiffer, this is a great alternative. I looked on the internet after I bought it, but I didn't find much about it, so I thought it would be a good idea to write about it here.

I had a swiffer wet jet and the darn thing broke! It made me so mad - I only had it a couple of days. I couldn't return it and when i contacted swiffer all they sent me were some free coupons for the refills (which is useless seeing as how it was broken!) Thanks for sharing it, I will check that out, I am not a mop & bucket person :)

My swiffer wet jet worked well for quite a long time. In fact it was still working, it's just that I wasn't using it as much because of the costs. This one is just like the wet jet, but without having to spend all that money. So far it seems that it is available in Canada only. At least I haven't seen any link for it anywhere except for a canadian site and the canadian tire store where I bought it. the link I found is: http://www.mixdirect.com/product_detail.asp?departmentId=4871&itemId=350984&Nz=0

Whoa for a person who claims to not enjoy cleaning you sound like a person who enjoys cleaning!! Well I don't use a mop and a bucket either. Instead I have something like your except that my mop is absorbent, Don't need to change cloth, don't need to buy new cloth, No need buckets and other stuff. All i have to do is stick it's absorbent side in to some floor cleaner and immediately start mopping every tile in sight! Then I absorb some water and wash every tile filled with tile cleaner dry. Very cheap the mopping-like-thing ( i dont know its name) cost $20 and no additional costs what so ever. And to remove the detergent or excess water from the absorbent side all I have to do is just press down the button provided.

In Japan we have flat mops like that which are just a handle and a flat part. You can either buy wet or dry sheets, or like me you can use washable washrags. You have to spray the floor yourself or wet the washrag.
