Ok, I just got done re-reading HBP. For some reason it caught my attention that the house elves, Kreacher and Dobby, Apparated inside Hoghwarts. I'm thinking that this must have been explained in an earlier book, but I can't remember why this is possible. This is even the book where the spells had to be lifted inside the hall where the students were taking their apparition lessons for an hour, so that they COULD apparate there. Any help? Lol, don't make me start at the beginning....again!

I'm not sure it's ever actually explained, but the common theory is that the house-elves use a different kind of magic or are under a different set of rules or restrictions - that is to say, the apparition rule only applies to humans and not to the house elves.

Thanks. That makes sense, and it crossed my mind actually. I just thought maybe Hermione had pointed out a reason behind it at one point! I have re-read the first five books so many times, but the 6th a nd 7th only once apiece (until this 2nd reading). I really want to take my time on DH now, after taking a few quizes on another site I was apalled at how many I missed!

Ahhh...and you were right! I just re-read Deathly Hallows, and when Dobby came to Malfoy Manor, it was mentioned how the elves can apparate inside Hogwarts, and how they have a different kind of magic, something that Voldemort never gave consideration. Thanks!
