What happened to the issues?

With all the attention that Obama received during and after the Democratic Convention and all the attention that Palin is receiving, what happened to some of the big issues involved in this campaign?
Health care is one that has been sorely neglected by the candidates. A line in Obama's speech and not a word from McCain. Each has their platform, but nobody has really said anything about what they will do for the citizens of this country. Most people know someone who has problems affording health care.
McCain will speak tomorrow, and perhaps he'll mention it. But isn't solving this country's problems more important then worrying about whether John McCain will die in office?

I think that most of these issues come up in depth during the debates.
