Before the food network came up with their all day cooking shows, being a chef is not that popular. Although, if you work for a well-known restaurant of the elite, then you are popular. When I was young, it was not taught as one of the occupations. It was seen more like just a hobby. Nowadays, it is more than that. There are cooking shows here and there. Chefs who are well known for Italian Food, classic pre-something food and all those things.
I am really interested in learning how to cook. Not the ordinary ones that we see in restaurants, but the ones that I could create using different things. However, as of the moment, I dont have time yet to pursue this career. Maybe next time.
Have you ever thought of having a career change before?

I have never thought of being a professional chef but I love to cook! I love when friends and family go oooohhh and awwww over my meatloaf, or make special requests for my enchilada's. But the thought of being a chef at a restaurant - I'd hate to have someone say "this is horrible, send it back!". I'd be crushed. I would love to go to culinary school though, just for me. Just for my knowledge and enjoyment. As far as the Food Network goes, the chefs there (well most of them) are not only talented chefs, but they also entertain and instruct. That is a gift.
