While on vacation up in Northern Minnesota we came across this eagles nest. I couldn't believe how big it was! The one morning while I had the dog out for a walk an eagle swooped right over us! It was amazing to hear the flapping of it's wings! Have you ever seen an eagles nest or an eagle up close and personal?

Hi Jill, No I have never experienced seeing an eagle close up ever. What an amazing experience for you. I love to see birds flying free rather than caged. Ellie :D

Hello jillhill.
Your "eagle" experience sounds fantastic! The wing spans of eagles are unbelievable, aren't they?
About 2 blocks away from us in an area of lots and few houses, there's an eagle's nest way up high in a tall pine tree. One of our neighbors first alerted us to it several months ago. Now, we try to either walk over or drive over by there just to check it out every now and then. I keep forgetting to take my binoculars. What gets me is the size of eagles, they are so majestic in their size and manner.
Someone recently told me that eagles keep returning to the same nest every year. I have not checked that out (I have a stack of bird books). Do you happen to know if that is so?
Thanks for telling us about this, Jill. It is pretty awesome when we get to see something special like that.

I have never seen an eagle up close before, but I have seen plenty of hawks. I see a lot of them and turkey buzzards on the side of the road munching on roadkill all the time. It is really cool to see them fly away. They have a really large wingspans.

Hi jillhill,
wow..that is amazing! I haven't seen any eagle nest as well as eagle in real! I have only seen them on TV and we have only few left in our Country and people are working hard to keep them by not harming some of the forest in some areas where they are found!
That is exciting for you!
