Unfortunately people are now using schools as their own personal babysitter. Parents just don't take any iniative when it comes to their childrens education. A lot of parents have left child rearing to schools and because of that we have shootings, drop outs, pregnancies. These things should not be effecting children. I'm 20 years old. I graduated from highschool just a few years ago. I feel like parents don't care anymore. They don't want to be bothered. They think our problems are insignificant. Just because we're 14 doesn't mean we don't get heart broken. People take our issues too lightly and then we feel like we can't talk to our parents or teachers so we hold everything inside. Eventually you have to blow.

I think having a group where kids can come and talk is a great idea but remember that a lot of these kids that are shootng up schools are social outcasts. They wouldn't feel comfortable going to a group discussion with a bunch of their popular peers and discussing their inner secrets. It's hard but that's where parents come in. Letting your kids play video games 8 hours a day is an issue for me. They have ratings for a reason. I grew up without a single video game and I'm fine. You need to monitor what they are watching. You can't just expect your teenage children to automatically filter themselves...THEY ARE TEENAGERS. I think I was the only 16 year old not allowed to watch the simpsons or south park.
