I was watching tv one day and I saw where they said to keep poison ivy off of you to spray youre legs with spray deodrant and then spray youre pants also and it will keep the poison ivy off of you that way you can save a dr. visit and the cost of the meds and I wanted to know if anybody else saw that?

I've not heard of spraying deodorant on your legs and pants legs to keep poison ivy off. Even if a person did use the deodorant and there is a chance that they would run into the poison ivy, it is still a good idea to take a bath or shower afterward.
My first husband used to get poison ivy very easily and he would break out in such nasty blisters. An older man we knew told my husband to use Ivory soap and lather it on the affected area and let it dry on the skin. My husband did that and it dried up the blisters pretty well and lessened the itching that goes along with it.

I have never heard of that. But that sounds rather interesting, and probably worth a try if you are going to be out in the woods. If we go camping we always bring Bert's Bees poison ivey soap with us just in case.

I've never heard that, but I guess it could work. The deodrant could make enough of a barrier on the skin that the oil from the ivy would not penetrate it to cause irritation if you just slightly rubbed against the plant. I still wouldn't go skipping through fields of the stuff, I'm sure the deodrant only helps against small amounts of the oil. Good tip though!

We have always just toughed through it. It is good to know that there is something we can try to make us more comfortable. Thanks.
