Is it true that to be able to apply for a passport, I need to go to the Department of Foreign Affairs at around 2am in the morning so that I could be included in the cut-off? And what are the requirements I need to prepare so that when I go there I have all the needed documents?

i dont think so.. not that early!!hehehe well, if you want hassle free for application of your passport, you can use travel agencies..make sure you go to a legitimate one though..hehe then they will process everything for you, you just have to go to DFA once.. just show up for picture taking, blah blah blah.. but everything else will be processsed by the agency!happy!:)

Yup, It's true, my friend went there at around 2am so that he could be included in the cut-off. According to my friend, there are lots of people waiting even at that time and he was the 100th person in line.

sure? OMG.. then it must really be that difficult to get a passport eh?? so how many people do they permit to get a passport in a day if that's the case?? Goodness heavens, so that means, from 2 am, you have to wait until 8 in the morning because that's the time when DFA opens.. and they have to wait 6 long hours just to be able to get a passport?? whheeW!!! i'd better get mine through agency if that's the case! thanks for informing me though!

No need to go to a travel agency. Just read on bluishrose's response. She suggested that I apply for a schedule at the DFA website. I did try her suggestion last night. Today, I already got a schedule next week.

If you live in Manila.... then you can just go to the website and make an appointment or schedule... but if you live in the province... then that is where the problem sets in... here in my area... my parents had to go to the DFA at 3 in the morning just to make it to the cut off number... i did not experience that because i had my daughter with me... so we went straight inside...

Yeah, I think I saw that the online request for schedule are for people who lives in Metro Manila. By the way, you said that you went straight inside because you have your daughter with you. Is your daughter working there?

Wow that's cool. At least our government is still considerate. By the way, did you also applied a passport for you daughter? What are the requirements? I'm a little bit confused because I called one travel agency and inquired about the requirements for my seven year old son and they told me that I need to have an affidavit for my child that her mom is allowing me to get a passport for my son. Is this true?

No... my daughter is only two years old... i took her there for her passport application... those with minors and the senior citizens do not need to fall in line...

i only spent around 1-2 hours that time when i applied for my passport...i think i started to apply around 9 am and finished before the cut-off time. then i was scheduled already to get my passport after a week...just make sure that the requirements are complete...about the payment, it was less than 1000 that time..i think 500 or 600 when i applied for my passport..but that was like 2 or 4 years ago...

I think getting a passport these days are very much different. Since there are a lot of people applying due to more opportunities abroad and cheaper airfares to other countries.

Anyway, you still have a chance to experience the online request for schedule when your passport expires.

The 2 am is so much exagerated time to go to the Department of Foreign Affairs for applying on Passport. If you are ready with your documents needed by the agency it is easy to file on it,and if you find hard for falling in line it that agency i suggest you go to the agency that are giving their services on easy way to get a passport.

I find it a waste of time spending my whole day there. Anyway, I already applied for a queue in the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs. I hope they schedule mine ASAP

Good news to those who are first time applicants of passport. Now you can apply online: http://www.passport.com.ph/app/index/. The list of requirements are also mentioned in this site. Your physical appearance will still be required for thumb printing. As passport direct online applicants, you are entitled to what they call priority lane which reduces the time spent at the DFA office to 30 minutes, which is good. You can call their hotline at 737-7777 for further assistance. I hope that this would help you. Have a nice day!!
