WE are the computer game!

I read this extremely interesting article in the German magazine DER SPIEGEL. It’s a weekly magazine comparable with Newsweek or Time, so not some popular magazine with lots of flesh and blood. So just that you know the source.
The author was an expert in quantum physics, and in his article he quoted several Nobel prize laureates. He stipulated the theory that we humans and the world as we experience it might actually be part of a very elaborate (and very advanced, obviously) computer game designed by beings in a parallel universe. Again, this was a scientific article where they threw about lots of facts and, obviously, hypothesis, because that’s what it is in the end.
The interesting part was the conclusion. If we play our cards right, we as the characters in this game, we get the chance to become one of them and design our own games. Doesn’t this sound a lot like the afterlife believes in the most popular religions. I think that this is another part of the development where science and religion will eventually agree. What do you think?
