Cutting down a pine tree ? Should we have it done?

We have a huge pine tree that's probably 3 stories tall that's under 10 feet away from our house. We'd like to get it cut down as we fear the roots are too close to the foundation and worry they may cause some damage. But my other cause for concern is the origional owner planted this tree over our leachbed/drainfield. So if we have it cut down would removing the tree disturb the drainfield for our septic? WWYD?
