I am so happy!!! Today I heard my boy singing with Diego and interacting some with the program instead of just being mesmerized by it! This is awesome for a child with Autism! What was the last thing that excited you...that your child said or did? ~Heavens~

Yeah!!!!! Yes, He always just sits there and seems mesmerized by these types of shows and when the show asks for participation he doesn't but he was actually singing the parts that Diego wanted him to! ~Heavens~

Thanks so much Carmela! Yes, he has come so far with all of his therapies and is now verbal and has learned so many tasks etc. He is a very hard worker and so determined.... I look forward to seeing how far the Lord will bring him! ~Heavens~

That is awesome that your son with autism is starting to interact with the show instead of just staring at it and being mesmerized. That is truly something to be excited about! Last thing my kids did to excite me? My son who is 8 recently learned to visualize his spelling words in his head when he closes his eyes and it has helped to with his spelling words and tests so much this school year. My daughter that is 19 months old is constantly learning things that are exciting to me. One of her most recent is picking things up and putting them back right. She has a set of Dora Old Maid cards that her father gave her that she will dump out and then put back in the box all facing the same direction.

My child is 22 now and living far away but I do work with autistic adults and I know what you mean by interacting. I started with a new group 2 weeks ago and a few of the guys are verbal but they seldom initiate a conversation. One of them asked me yesterday 'what is your name' and one has a speech box (i forget the name of it) and he pointed to me and looked me in the face (a rarity for him) and his box said 'Hi, I am fine' both of these are major for these guys. And I was excited...2 of them in one day. I am not their Mom, but I can understand your feelings...I celebrate with you.

That is Awesome for those boys and both in one day...So exciting! My boy is verbal but as you say interacting is rare so when it happens...You feel you should throw a party or something! ~Heavens~

Hi heavenschild, That is fantastic news! He's come such a long way, and there's a lot to be thankful for. Please give him a big hug, and a kiss for me. I missed doing this 'the other day,' as he was out the door before I realized he was gone. Even though my daughter's growing up, she still does things that are exciting to me. She's maintained an above 80% average, ever since she started high school, which places her on the honour roll. She works extremely hard at her part time job, and is a big help around the house, etc. Take care. Hugs.

That's wonderful news! I hope he grows up to be a wonderful young man. Maybe he will become a singer if he practices enough! He probably sings better than Diego anyway.

He can sing "Soobey" (Or however it is spelled) With the best of them! We are very proud of him for sure as he is a hard worker! He went from being severe and non verbal to being verbal but it has been a lot of work and money...All worth it! Thanks for responding here and giving your vote of confidence! ~Heavens~
