I think our car needs a new starter.

I went to give my husband a ride back to work after lunch. When I turned the key, the only sound I got was a "click!" Our lights all work. Can I assume that it's probably not the battery? It's an older car but it's paid off. We are reaching the point where we want to know if the expenses for repairs are outweighing the fact that we have no car payment on it anymore. What about you? When would you give in and look for a new car? I think that we will stick it out a little longer. At least while the repairs are not that large. How long have you kept a car going before you caved and purchased a new one?

Thanks. The garage hasn't called yet today so we're still not sure what's up. I always said that if I were rich, I would have a personal mechanic. Don't tell me what needs to be fixed, just do it and keep it running. Wouldn't that be great?
