Well I just returned from dads doctor appointment for his pre-op physical. he had 3 tubes of blood drawn and had an EKG done as well. His heart is doing great and his lab results on the blood tests were as expected. No surprises. Now the hassle is I am waiting for the urology office to schedule a catscan. they have to get in touch with Blue Cross Blue Shieled Michigan to verify they'll cover the cost. So it is now a waiting process. Otherwise all is set for his operation next Tuesday. Just wanted to update this was all. Thanks friends and others here as well. Have you ever waited more than a couple days for a lab test, x-ray etc to be scheduled by a Dr at all?

Glad the ball is rolling and getting closer to having this behind you both before long. I just hope that the insurance don't wait and wait and drag their feet. I have not had to wait for any to be scheduled, just had to wait for results. I hope you are feeling better now also, I'm sure you still have the cough. The cough is always the last to get rid of it seems no matter if it is from a smoker or non smoker.

Just the one last test to do.
I had to cancel a free Anita Baker concert at the casino.
My wife was taking Friday off to go to the show.
But now she is taking Tuesday off.
So I miss a great show again. Oh well.
I will be happy once this is done again.
Seems once a year something happens with dad on a serious note.
The cough sucks. I feel fine.
But just my body cleansing itself makes me cough.
Spitting a lot of gunk up too.
Thanks bunches also friend. (again)

I hope the insurance company, and the urology office, get their acts together on time. You, your wife, and dad, don't need to wait beyond next Tuesday for this. On the plus side, I guess your dad won't remember anything about the whole procedure afterward? I haven't had to wait too long for tests to be booked, but have had to wait to see specialists, and to get test results. I'm sorry to hear that you, and Grandma Debbie have to miss the show at the casino. I trust things will be under control, once the surgery is past, so you can all enjoy this great time of year. Take care, and Hugs to you Grandpa Bob.

Turns out the Blue Cross said no need to contact them unless medicare refuses to pay NAY of the costs. Otherwise medicare pays some or all then the remaining balance would be billed to BCBS. Got that out of the way and the catscan is Thursday morning. Then we take the CD of the scan to the urologist on Monday and all set. Unless there's a serious problem etc with his urinary tract etc.

Yeah - for my MRI to find out that my rotator cuff was torn I had to wait about 10 days. Happily, at the hospital, I got in for a sonogram on my gall bladder fairly quickly.
The poor sonographer was just being over whelmed with requests - while I was in there she got a call and had to tell the person on the other end that she had to deal with the emergency patients before she could do a normal pregnancy.

Thanks for the update grandpa Bob for I was wondering how things were progressing. Sounds like you have some good doctors in your area in which you are very lucky. I wish I could say the same for my parents but I surely can't. We're still working on finding a good doctor and hopefully we will. Good luck with your dad, I sure hope all goes well!

Hello Grandpa Bob, yes unfortunately when you have to have any
kind of surgical procedure there are some tests that have to
be performed before the surgery and there is lots of tests
and lots of waiting in between. I had an outpatient procedure
done in the hospital and I had to have all sorts of tests
done before the surgeon would do the surgery. It's just all
stuff that they do I believe to make some extra money and
to drive people nuts! But if you don't do what they tell
you then they won't do the surgery! So it will be over soon
Grandpa Bob and your dad will be ok. So try to relax and
everything will be ok and over before you know it.

Yeah it is just so many tests etc all within one weeks time.
Stressful waiting etc. But things are almost done now.
Thankfully.

Grandpa Bob I hope everything turns out OK with your dad's surgery. My mom has gone to refusing every procedure even including some meds. It is within her right to refuse. She is not eating anything except what I bring her and has lost 250lbs. She knew she was dying a month and a half ago now she is still alive and giving me grief.
Mom's new thing is: She called me yesterday to tell me the AT&T called her to tell her that her phone bill had to not been paid for 6 months and that she owed over 100 dollars. What a made up story. I called them and no one called, and yes I was behind by one month but I had paid it on Friday. The lady at AT&T asked me if the reason I was mom's agent was because she got things mixed up. We had a good laugh out of that one. I myself think mom just wanted me to tell her who much she owed and when I paid it so she was leverage against me. She does love to tell the people at the nursing home that I am crazy and incompetent. They know the truth.
