Every time I get my power bill statement it shows that I have used more energy than I did the year before. I would always be very frustrated because I felt I was making attempts to reduce it. Changed my bulbs, don't run the water, wear a sweater etc. But this summer I got a clothes line and was determined to use it. Also started to only wash clothes in cold water. I picked days to wash that I could put the clothes on the line. Well it worked. First time since I ever had power in my name have my consumption been reduced and I am thrilled.
What do you do to conserve energy in your home and do you see the effects?

I try and switch off the lights when not required in other rooms, wash in cold water, and have always dried my clothes on a clothes line. We have power saving appliences which have been marked with stars. More the stars, the more the power saved. We try and buy such appliances only. I am the only person in my family who takes a hot water bath. Both my husband and son prefer cold water. In spite of that, our bills go up, because the cost of electricity in India is up on the rise and though our unit consumption goes down, the rate of unit keeps increasing and that gives rise to inflated bills. We try to do our best, but to no avail.
