Well school started back at the end of august and already my son has brought home a cold! My 8 year old didnt get sick.. he had a little congestion but that is normal for him since he is alway on the go. but my 2 year old and my 51/2 month old are sick as well. about a week ago my 2 year old woke up throwing up all ON ME! lmao i know funny huh!? then he had a fever for 2 days.. highest it got tho was 102.4. his fever has gone away but now he has the runny nose and horrible.. i mean HORRIBLE cough! I havent taken him to the doctors because i always get the same song and dance "he just has a cold or flu..blah blah blah give him this and give him that and have him rest and he will be alright in a few days" lol u know how rich id be if i had someone pay me each time ive heard that! HAHA! my 5 1/2 month old has the runny nose and little cough. so needless to say i hope i dont get it! lol id lose my mind if i got sick too on top of them 2 being sick lol. i dont think i could manage. So how long after your kids started school did they bring home a cold or the flu??

The first month of school my oldes (10) got a cold. Unfortunately there was more behind it and he's having surgery next week due to a cyst they found. We are now into the second month of school and my daughter (8) was sick a couple weeks ago. My 3 year old has been sick both times my other two were sick. I usually catch a little of it cause i'm always around them, but this time I got it pretty bad. I couldn't talk for a whole day, my head felt like it was going to explode, and my chest felt like it was going to cave. Today I was able to talk some, and i'm coughing up that nasty stuff. But I didn't let it get me down, I had to keep going for the kids. the weather is changing and i'm sure they will bring something else home. LOL

My kids got sick a week into the school year this year. We've all had it and I'm still sick. I think I got the worst of it! My daughters missed a couple days of school and I did take them to the doctor since they have a history with strep throat. Turns out that it was just a cold and they're fine now. Wish I had the same resilience to colds and the flu that they do! lol

Depending on where you live might be a factor as well. It seems that - particularly in the northern half of the United States, & probably partos of Canada that experience warm or hot summers too, colds start going around. The problem is - when doing strenuous work outdoors, & start feeling the heat, people tend to start removing clothing. They get chilled without even realizing it, & their resistance to the cold/flu drops & oopsie ... cough cough ... atch CHOO! ... It is also the same result when it turns out to be cooler than anticipated, & did not dress properly to go out. However, when they come into contact with someone else, yeah - it can be catchy What I am thinking would help is just make sure the kids drink lots of fluids. I probably don't need to mention chicken soup until they start growing feathers ... but the vitamins help. I don't have kids, but if they ended up getting sick probably within a week or two after school started, it probably means they actually caught it the first day.

My 8 year old son has not brought home any colds from school yet this school year, but he did have a bit of a stomach ache a few weeks ago. He was not throwing up, but complaining. I let him stay home just in case and he was fine the next day.
