Printer suggestions?

My printer die and I feel lost without it. I need to get a new one, but I don't know what's best. I think t a laser printer so I won't have to spend so much time running to buy ink cartridges. Is one brand better than another? Is it possible that there might be cheap ones? Are the combos any good? I'd love to have a color copier and a scanner, but not if they impede the usefulness of the printer. Any suggestions?

We have an HP printer it's a color ink jet. It's a work horse and has been very reliable. I don't think these are very expensive anymore. LOL

maybe it does go through ink, we may not have much volume. We go thru one about every 45 days and it costs us 20,00$ for black only. We do genealogy so I think we use a lot, about a ream of paper per month. But maybe you use a lot more. Good luck to you

Thanks. I've made a list and your info about the ink usage is an important part of the comparisons.

I've never gotten a combo b/c my brother got one and although the scanner part was still good the printer quit and now none of it works and it costs alot more to try to get them fixed. We had a Cannon which I loved...I could buy those refill ink packs and they'd last me for 4-5 refills. The one I have now is a Lexmark and you can't use a refill pack for it so everytime I need ink I have to buy a new cartridge at $20. If I ever buy a new one again I'll probably look for a Cannon. I have an HP all in one, model 1200, I haven't had any problems out of it. The ink is quite expensive but they have different models with uses less expensive ink cartridges. It doesn't bother me because I don't really print that much.

Thanks, Chevee. I'm trying to do less printing, with an eye to the costs.
