Like My Idea?

I have so many picture frames to put on the walls since our house was repainted. Not going to place them on any of the accent walls because I don't want to ruin the appearance of the darker colors. I have an awful problem getting the frames centered of just guessing from closeup since I do this alone. Don't have anyone to help hold the frame as I stand across the room. I sure could use an aid such as a wooden stand that would hold the picture frame in place, in the exact location of where the frame needs to be placed. The aid would extend from the floor up the wall to any height. I could then stand back and see what needs to be changed before driving nails in the wall. This sure would help me considerably and I wouldn't have 5 holes in the wall trying to put up one, bigger photo frame. Would this be a useful tool for others also and would you buy something of this nature if the price was reasonable?

Yes!!!! Or something really sticky that would hold it temporarily until you have the correct positioning....I understand the delimma! I don't have anyone to help out either so sometimes I do have extra holes pounded into the wall.....and right after you have painted and filled all the others ones! Good idea Carol.

Some of my frames are so heavy that anything sticky that is temporary may not hold. This would have a slot in front to hold the frame as the person stands back to view it and make sure it's high enough, etc. It would be adjustable in length. Maybe could also have one that is more expensive that has a leveler on it. My husband runs when he thinks I have something for him to do at home. He won't help out so it's just me getting these projects done. It would be extremely helpful for me. Thanks so much for responding.

Someone mentioned above there is something on the market that can be used to temporarily hold a frame in place while viewing. I have 3 frames that are extremely heavy and would be afraid they'd fall. Yes a music stand idea is a good one. Simply make it from wood or metal on a pole that will extend. I don't have any sense about inventions and this item would have to involve a patent attorney, etc. I doubt my husband would back something of this nature. Thanks again for the good suggestion.

This does sound like a really good idea. If it was made of some clear material that would not hinder the view it would be very useful. You should talk to some one that creates things like this and insist that if they make it you get a royalty.

This would involve contacting a patent attorney. Am sure our attorney could recommend one but at the same time, I don't have the money to take it any further and really don't have any plans in the works. It was an early morning thought..lol Thanks for responding.

They had something on a DIY commercial where there is a temporary stick it. You back up, see if you like it and it can be changed from temporary to permanent. If you get Do It Yourself Network, that commercial is on about once a week. I will look next time and see what it says exactly. Maybe someone here already knows or has given you the advice. Take care

Oh, I see, I'm the first one. So I just did a quick search, " DIY, advise, hanging pictures."
Try:

Hopefully all of that is correct. Good luck.

I was thinking in terms of a wood or metal standing device that will hold the frame so you can just get an idea. It would have a slot in the front to hold the frame and would be adjustable to any height. It would hold the frame until I could move it in the right position. Next I would mark the wall. I am alone so much and my husband doesn't want to help me hang anything. I rarely watch DIY so didn't see anything like this on television. Just something that came to mind this morning. Thanks so much for responding.

That sounds interesting, but what holds the frame there?

It could be made very affordable and would be a big help. Atleast it would be for me. Could be a more expensive stand that has a leveler on it. I would use something like this all the time since I am always changing frames around. Thanks so much for responding.
