How Do You Send Large Files?

Some files are too large to email, so how do you send them?
I've used FTP software in the past, but I was wondering if perhaps there was an easier (and hopefully free) way to send large files. Please recommend the method that you have used before.
The file I need to send is about half of a gigabyte in size. That's as much as I can reduce it without losing quality since it's a video for an animal rescue organization and it has to look somewhat nice on their website. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. Have you tried file hosting sites like Mediafire, Sendspace or MegaUpload? I usually send my large files through any of those three. I recommend Mediafire, since some people seem to have problems downloading from the other two sites. Of course, there's a 100MB limit per file for free users but what I do is I split the large file into a number of 100MB files through HJSplit and then upload them one by one. =)

Hi there. No, splitting files doesn't affect the quality of the video. However, the recipient should have the same program you used to split the files (e.g. HJSplit or WinRar) in order to be able to put the split files together.
Hope this info helps.

I don't like letting other people have a connection to my PC. I've done that to other people like my grandma to change things on her computer, but I'm not a very trusting person.
Luckily, they were more trusting than me and I ended up getting the website info so that I could put the video up myself and not have to send it to someone else to do.
