Are we raising a generation or weaklings?

Have you noticed how many of the games and activities we played as children have been banned in the schools? I can remember playing Dodge ball in gym, Red Rover at recess, and even forms of tag like Uncle Sam that have been banned at school now because someone may get hurt. If they were that dangerous, why were we allowed to play them as kids? Perhaps part of the problem now is that many kids, due to progressive parenting, don't obey rules because there are little or no consequences for misbehaving. It seems like no one dares punish their child. I'm not talking about spanking or beating, just the old fashioned idea of punishing a child by denying them something they like, grounding them or fining them. We seem to be seeing more violence in youth, perhaps the lack of discipline is a factor here too. What do you think?

I agree with you that there is a lack of dicipline in the world today. I honestly feel that dicipline is a necessaary part of growing up. We can blame the State or Government, they do play a major role, but parents play the largest role. As parents, we need to recognize that what we teach our children today molds their future as well as ours. I also agree that some of those games we all played as kids at school wouldn't be so dangerous for the kids if kids were taught to obey rules and if they were taught to respect others. In my opinion, teachers do not always do their part with this either, they'd often times rather not deal with the situation.

Yes I have to agree about the teachers, but I have heard them say, they are afraid of being sued for disciplining a child. In fact, a parent did sue a teacher at our local school for putting her son in "time out", the case dragged out, but eventually the teacher did win, but it made the others so stressed, the town paid the tuition to send the child to a neighboring towns school.
