When I was in High School (class of 82), I was what they called, "The Parking Lot Gang" at Davis High School, Kaysville Utah. That was what they called the "burnouts", "stoners", "heads", "freaks", or whatever word your schoolmates called the kids who would rather hang out in the parking lot (or where ever) than go to class.
I guess I've changed over the years though, a few years ago I met a new family at church, it turned out the mother and I both grew up in Davis County. When we started talking about high school she looked shocked and said, "You hung out in the parking lot at Davis High?!?!?"
I guess we had a reputation or something. :~D
I'm not sure if I was a freaky geek or a geeky freak though. I did hang out in the parking lot, but I was also into drama and played Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. ;~D
What group were you in (if any)? Or did you hang out with different groups?

I started high school in 69, the year after I started, they built what was called the "Smoking Court", yes it was put there for those of us who chose to smoke. At lunch we could go to the smoking court and hang out. They had tables set up for us to eat lunch out there, big ash cans etc. it was a very nice area to hang out. Of course now a days, you can't even smoke in your own car on school grounds. I wonder if I could win in court if they ever actually ticketed me, since they were the ones who allowed/encouraged me to smoke to begin with, I wanted to be with the "Cool Kids". HMMM something to think about, LOL. Blessings Marilyn

We didn't have a "smoking court", but the parking lot where we hung out (ok, actually the grass by the parking lot) was the only place on campus you could get away with smoking. Kind of strange since it was illegal in Utah for minors to smoke. :~D

I didn't really have a label applied to me that I know of. I was kind of strange and very emotionally disturbed. So I didn't have many friends and I wasn't very socially adept.

I'm a very proud band geek. I was in band and color guard all 4 years of high school so that was the majority of my friends in high school. We were together so much we really had no other choice then to bond. I still have friends I keep in contact with from band.
Sounds like your group of friends are my high school would have been "The Car Wash Gang". We had a car wash across the street from my school and a bunch of kids would go hang out up there. I think they thought they were too cool for school lol.

Yeah, I noticed that when the drama club was most active, they were the only ones i really did much with. I guess it would be like that all the time for things like Band.

I didn't really hang out with any group in high school. I was the...mmm...most un-popular kid, I guess you could say.
Have you ever seen the either of the movies: "She's all That" or "Never been Kissed"?
If you have, In "She's all That", I would have been kind of like the girl whom that popular guy tried to turn into the prom queen on a dare, except I didn't wear glasses or dress like a nerd and the most popular guy in school never went out with me on a dare or otherwise.
In "Never been kissed", I would have been kind of like Drew Barrymore's character, the way they depicted what her actual high school experience was like in the flash backs, except I wasn't overweight.
That is the best I can explain it.

i was friends with all different groups. i really did not want to associate myself really closely with any one of them because i guess i wanted to just be friendly with everyone. and you know how it is in high school- someone does not like you just because you hang with certain people or whatever. i was definitely not a loner or anything- i did have a group of friends that i was always with, but we were not classified as anything. they were just a mix of different people. looking back, i really wanted to be an exclusive member of the "popular group" but now that i am older and wiser i am glad that i wasn't. those kids were mostly just mean and hateful. not speaking about all kids that were popular- just in my high school.

Oh, I had friends in most of the cliques and groups at Davis High, I just didn't see much of them at school. It was funny, my best friend in high school hung out with the cowboys so most of our school friends didn't even know we knew each other at all. ;~D
