My son pulled a muscle the other day

He said he was playing basketball at gym and when he turned to throw the ball he felt a little pull and pain in his neck/shoulder area. He said it wasn't bad, he went on playing the rest of the class and everything. By the end of the next period he was in pain. When he got home I had him take some Advil and put ice on it. He rested and we did the ice every so often. The next morning it was alot better. He still has some pain, but is alot better now. Hopefully it will continue to get better each day.

It's good the hear he is doing better. I pulled a muscle once at work, and I thought I wasn't going to make it through that ordeal, you talking about something that hurt. It hurt so bad it made me want to slap my grandmother. ( That is an expression the younger generation uses, I would never have gotten away with slapping my grandmother.)

LOL, yeah I've heard that before. I hope my son doesn't pull any more muscles. I hate when he gets hurt.

Hate to hear about your son's sports injury. But it's good he's already feeling better. It's tough to have a pulled or strained muscle. Yet they tend to heal fairly quickly, which is a good thing. Plus young people snap back so quickly! Hope he's all better by now.

He's not completely better, but getting there. He's just taking a little Advil and is doing fine. It will probably take a few weeks to heal completely.

It should get beter over the next couple of days and the advil shoudl help it a bit to cause it is good to help with swelling and with pain to. It hurts when we pull a muscle but the good thing is it goes away in a coule of days the pain and you don't have to see a doctor for it:P

Yeah, I researched it and everything said if it wasn't better within 48 hours to take him to the doctor. He was getting better within 24 hours. They did say it takes 2-3 weeks to get completely well.

It sound like you know what you are doing on this one, it should heal up soon.

I've pulled those kinds of muscles, currently I'm nursing one from last week, I must have slept funny or dreamed I was in a prize fight. I popped my neck this morning so it must be back to normal.

Glad to hear you are ok. I hate whenever my son gets hurt. It hurts me! I worry until I know he's going to be alright. He seems to be ok now, just a little sore.

I'm sure his pain will go away with time. Taking him to the doctor would probably be a good idea though. He may need a muscle relaxer to help the healing process. At the very least, I would call your doctor's office and ask. iy's better to be safe tha to be sorry.

We are keeping a close eye on it. It happened two days ago. Today he hardly feels any pain at all. I think he just tweaked it a little. There is no swelling or redness, and he has full range of movement.
