I was thinking of filling out an application for being a mystery shopper. Has anyone ever did this before? If so can you give me an idea what like? And a few tips? It is a good way to earn a little extra money or is it an annoyance to the shop owners? What do you think?

I have heard of this from a friend. That friend is still debating wether to sign up. So the responses here will be helpful for that friend and others as well I hope. I do free samples is all here though. I think the shops etc encourage this to draw new business and good reviews etc for their businesses. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I did this. It was okay. They are really picky about the spelling your report. I got knocked down from full payment for one typo. I decided it wasn't worth my time and effort to do this. Make sure you work for a reputable mystery shopping company. You don't want to go to all the trouble to do the shop and then not get paid. If you have to pay them, look elsewhere. They need you to go to the stores, they pay you, not the other way around.

HI Chevee, I haven't tried that really..I heard from a friend who are doing that but I didn't asked her any details about it! She said before that she was earning on it! Anyway, hopefully, you will get or hear from anyone who is a member!

Hi chevee, It is supposed to be a great way to earn money and have alot of fun too. There is a mylotter here that I know that has had some really great fun and made some good money doing it. I could give you her name and maybe she can give you some information. She has an article on some site but I have to look up the information and I could let you know. I would have done it but I don't have a car and you need to be able to get around to different places freely. If you like shopping and going to different restaurants and talking to people and getting information then you probably would like being a mystery shopper. I did it once with and X-boyfriend. We went to a Harley Davidson shop and it was great! Since we love bikes and he had one and we used to ride together when we went out years ago it really was interesting. So if you like those things that I mentioned then check it out.

I've filled out a couple f application forms but never actually got any work. I know my mum has done a few assignments for mystery shopping companies and has not had any problems, she has got paid properly etc. I don't think it's an annoyance to shop owners because a lot of the time it is the company that requests the visit to keep an eye on the quality of their customer service. So, if it's something you fancy doing it then pick a company that you think sound good and go for it! xxx

If it asks you to pay for being mystery shopper then don't . This is a scam. If the store owner asks you he/she would not ask you for any fee

Hi chevee the only person i know that has done this is on hols at the moment we were mystery shopped monthly at audi though they are only annoying if they haven't done their research, lack product knowledge or ask inappropriate questions or ones that can be interpreted incorrectly. It's all about scored at the end of the day if you do as your instructed and they don't not your issue if you don't and they do that is your issue. Mostly it was going it to protend to buy a car, have it serviced just as though they were a customer really. It can get annoying when your busy but it's part and parcel of the job and everyones shopped these days so you just have to get used to it.
