That is good. When we had our house we decorated the kitchen with pilsbury. We found a lot on Ebay and then friends started giving us stuff when they found out what we were doing. Very good blog.

I love decorating. I always try to find a neutral colour and then change the look by changing the curtains, cushions and pictures. Your hub was very good. It was a good idea to tell friends and family what you are doing as they can be a great help. I like to look at remnants of fabrics as they can make good cushion covers and sometimes you can get ones big enough for throws. You can also take a set of plain curtains that you have used before and add a border of a colour that will go with the new scheme. There arte lots of ways you can change th look of a room without spending a lot of money.

Very good job! I think you covered all angles very well. You are so right about telling other friends and family members about what you're looking for. Often they are at places with good deals, and if they know what you're looking for, they can either get it for you, or tell you where it is. Another thing I personally like to do is re-purpose items. For instance, I had this oblong shaped mirror that was on a stand. You know, where you can stand up and look at yourself and get an entire view of your body. And the mirror can flip itself because it is on a kind of post. Well, the mirror itself broke off of the stand. When I moved into my apartment a couple years ago I took that with me. I hung it on my wall. But not long ways like it was on the stand, but on its side. So instead of it being a mirror that you could look at your whole body in, it is now over my couch and reflects the door and only your face if you look in it. I've gotten a few compliments on that. I'm probably not explaining it well though! Sorry.
But when I moved I didn't have much, so I wanted to find new ways to make things work.

I love the mirror idea.
I can picture almost perfectly in * my minds eye* A long oblong mirror laying on its side over your couch. That is a awesome idea!
Don't have to be sorry at all. I am not wealthy LOL
That is how I can write about how to redo a room on a budget!

Hi louise, Actually I am in the process of redecorating
right now! I have been purchasing things for the last
few months as I see them. I have bought a few things
here and there as I see them. About a week ago I got
some new curtains for the bedroom and livingroom Awhile
ago I got some new things for the bathroom. I have slowly
purchased things for each room that I knew I wanted to
get. I bought a new slipcover and pillow for the couch
online before I have the apartment painte. The other day
I bought 2 more pillow for my wicker chair. I also
bought something to cover another chair with. I need a
tablecloth for the diningroom table and I should be almost
finished except for maybe a few odds and ends. Today
I bought a new bedskirt and shams. I bought a new bed
in June so I have been buying everything new for the bed.
I have alot of work to do to get the house back togeter. I
haven't really changed the apartment in 27 years. So I
finally decided to clean everything out and give it a
makeover.

Awesome! I love how your doing it over slowly. It is such a huge expense to do all at once.
I am sure that it all will look very nice once you have it all done!
