As many of us probably know, a piece of technology in the Star Trek franchise is the Holodeck. Well, guess what? Apparently a company is actually developing a machine that will work very similar to the holodeck from Star Trek and will be used for anything from gaming to surfing the Internet. I think it's safe to say that if it will work like they say, it will change the way we do things online. One example I've heard is that if a website like Amazon or eBay became fully 3D, then it would appear as a traditional store in which you would be able to walk the aisles looking for what you want. From what I understand it's going to be commercially released around 2014. Unfortunately, it'll no doubt be very expensive to buy for private use.
I could imagine all the fun I could have with this. As the writer of the article on Yahoo said, there are a lot of games I'd love to be able to play with the Immersive Cocoon. It sounds like it'd be incredibly fun no matter what you used it for. Just too bad it's going to be expensive. But I'd rather not think about the price tag haha.
So what do you guys think? Would you be interested in giving this machine a try whenever it is released in the next few years? What kind of stuff will you want to try out in it? I'd love to see how gameplay in online games such as MMORPGs will change, for example.
If you'd like to read up on it yourself and to see how it'll work, search in news search bars for "Immersive Cocoon". I know of at least two articles from Yahoo News and CNN.com.

Yeah, I decided to make a topic about it after mentioning it in yours. I had thought it might get some interesting replies, but unfortunately I guess no one could think of anything to say. But yeah, it would be incredible to use it for anything and everything. The more I imagine it the more I'd love to try it out, even if I couldn't personally own one myself.
