California bank robbed twice, by 2 different thieves, on same day.San Diego-area Wells Fargo branch had an especially difficult day this week. The branch in La Mesa was robbed twice on Monday by two different robbers. The police call one the hard hat Bandit, the other the Chatty Bandit. These 2 robbed the bank 3 hours apart. Neither has been caught.
Makes a mattress look like a safer place huh?

Thankfully, robberies are rare. It is really odd that these two guys both hit up the same bank so close to the same time. However, banks are FDIC insured and even if the Bank is robbed, your money is safe up to $100,000, I think. I must admit, however, that I have heard more bank robbery stories lately than I care to recall. I wonder if that is just a fluke of my awareness or if there is something happening.

You're right about that.
Money deposits are FDIC insured.
Can't remember how that applies.
Is that for robberies too?
Hope so.
Thought never occurred to me.
But I like the idea that money is
protected from robbery, not just
bank failure.

I wouldn't stuff it in my mattress but my husband has been know to put it in something and put it under that mattress. He hasn't in awhile though. I am thinking it isn't safe anywhere anymore. I have a money safe a small one but it wouldn't keep someone out if they truly wanted into it. Thieves can be very determined once they start something. I just wish people didn't have to rob banks.

It is true that we are passing through a very risky,insecured and testing times.It is difficult to find a safe custody to perk your hard earned money;it is even becoming increasingly difficult to smoothly,freely and safely live,move and work both at home and outside.It is possible that putting money under the mattress may exose both one's life and money to serious danger,if the robbers get to know aboutit.Thanks.

Yes. It sure does. The bank has to insure our money up to a certain amount though. It just isn't safe to put things anywhere these days, it seems.
