Okay I am still excited about my new TV and sound system today.
My son-in-law and daughter will be here Sunday sometime.
The SIL is doing all the installing of the elctronic components.
I did get the TV stand today at WalMart.
It is black with one glass shelf. Small but will serve the purpose.
Now without the entertainment center we had I can hang family photos on the wall.
Wooo Hoooo!
The TV stand I did set up etc. Just a bunch of screws and washers.
SO this was my chore for the set up etc.
So how educated are you at setting up electronic items?
Are you like me and stick with the furniture which takes a few screws/bolts only?
Whom do you get to do the electronics if you do?

Same here for me now days.
Most men you'd figure could do this.
Not me, I am illiterate when electronics are involved for the most part.

There was a really nice stand for the same price.
But it was ALL wood and pressed wood at that.
Those things tend to fall apart too easily.
So we went with simple styling etc.

Very nice stand. Did you have any parts left over?
I'm not good with electronics and such either, and will have to beg help from a friend if I have something more complicated than plugging my computer stuff into the CPU.
I can get the TV plugged in and the VCR, but beyond that, I'm not much good to anyone.

Oh, I meant to ask. Once this is hooked up, will we be seeing less of you on myLot? Or is the computer in the same room and you can give us all the soap opera updates here?

If I'm lucky our son sets up the electronics.. But if he's not around, I get to do it! (oh yippie). The same goes for the set up of furniture.. although if I'm in more of a hurry than son is to do it, I'll do it myself anyway!

I think the TV stand and all the electronic equipment will look great together. Is the TV hidef? I am looking to get a flat screen TV but I am not sure I want hidef because I do not want to pay more for the comcast cable.

All I can do is put the plug into the outlet..Usually either my husband or daughter are the ones to set up any electronics.

That will be fun to learn the ins and outs of the remote.

I am still having problems learning how to operate the sound system correctly.
I have to get the son-in-law over to refresh me somewhat.

I'm hopeless with electronics. I would have to have someone from the store come and hook it up or wait for my son to visit from Arizona!

I tend to be the one setting up the electronics in the house...if its in the car i let my dad or brother in law do it. (well sometimes i give up trying to get them to do it and then i do it myself) I also tend to be the one to setup the furniture i buy. BUT if tis something like the water pump the furnace and house repairs i definitely need my daddy!

I set up my home theatre dvd surround sound system last night. My parents gave it to me as a late birthday gift last night and when i was setting it up i was thinking of the post you had about having yours set up this weekend.
I hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed watching a movie on mine last night!

And you know I am addicted to TV how?
You don't even know me.
Now the computer I am addicted to, not the TV.
I seldom watch TV really.
Mostly my dad watches it.
Thanks for your time and response also.
Have a great day/evening as well.

My hubby is the IT Geek so he sets up all our electronic stuff. I can follow instructions if they're basic enough to follow LOL most of the time he does it.

Ooh sounds like you are going to have a nice setup there!
I usually put everything together myself. I am pretty good with the furniture, even though it takes me longer to put together than it probably should. I used to be good with electronics, but I am getting worse as they get more complicated! I finally just hooked up my DVD recorder the other day, bought in Jan. 2007. I had made such a mess trying to hook it up the first time, that my VCR had been disconnected and I couldn't tape anything. I dread to think what will happen if I ever get HD, I will probably have to ask my brother-in-law to help me, but I really don't want to do that!

Hey Grandpa Bob! It really is like Christmas isn't it! All
you're missing is the Christmas tree and Santa tonight!
I know you can't wait until tomorrow! Poor SIL, you'll be
watching him and rushing him until everything is hooked up!
Is Savanna coming too? I hope so. Maybe she can distract
you for awhile! I don't know anything about setting up
electronics. I can't even hook up my other printer for my
computer. I stay away from all electrical things even
the computer stuff. They scare me. I did set up my stero.
But that's pretty much it. I hope you can wait just a little
bit longer. Keep us posted on the hookup!

My son is the one who I holler at for installing the electronics.
