The sad specter of lost penguins is putting a damper on the exotic beaches of Brazil. The Magellanic penguins are washing up starved and exhausted, having traveled too far north in search of rich fishing grounds. Lifeguards are forgoing sexy poses to rescue the beleaguered birds from well meaning but misguided beach goers who's first instinct is to place the bird in a bucket of ice.

No one knows why the birds are traveling so far north. Right now, efforts are focused on rehabilitating the wayward travelers.

It's great that there are ppl willing to help them and get them back where they belong. Unusual as it is, it could have been much worse. They are awfully cute and I wouldn't mind having one too.

Penguins are very adorable, but can you imagine your air conditioning bill?
