My 8 year old daughter would like to learn how to knit. MY mom tried to teach me years ago and I was NO good at it. So I was wondering if anyone new of anyplace online to get directions or a good craft place to get some stuff to start her off. We have a michels here in halifax that I would like to try but was wondering if anyone else new of a better spot online. thanks

Try YouTube. There are videos for everything on there, including all kinds of instruction videos. Just search knitting or learn to knit in the search box on the YouTube site and see what comes up. I haven't searched for knitting, but I have found a lot of other things on there.

Have you tried knitty.com? It's a free site that I enjoy - I get patterns there. They might have basic instructions in the archive. Michael's will sometimes run classes for kids in how to knit.

I've seen kits at Michaels for teaching children to knit. I would also check my local yarn shop and see if they might be going to have classes to teach children to knit. You might also check the school district or the YMCA to see if they might have classes for learning to knit. Then too, you might check the local senior center and see if they might have a senior that might want to teach your daughter to knit. The seniors are very patient and there may be one who would enjoy the fun of interacting with a young person and teaching them a craft that they have done for years.

you tube has a few videos. Also googling the different stitches you wish to learn will find you some videos. Otherwise I went to the library and borrowed learn to knit books as well as knitting for dummies and knitting for idiots and taught myself. My grandma had tried to teach me but I was VERY bad at it at the time and then 5 years later decided to teach myself.

Your welcome. Some of the dollar stores here have yarn if you want to start with something inexpensive to learn with.
