SIDS and a fan?

I read somewhere on AOL last night that a new study shows that babies who had a fan circulating air in there rooms were less likely to die from SIDS.It also said that they believe SIDS is caused by an abnormality in the infants brain that disables it from waking if it would stop breathing in it's sleep. I lost my daughter due to SIDS and I am curious what other parents think about this? Can SIDS really be prevented by something as simple as a fan in your opinion?
