Easy Bake Oven

I believe they still sell these in stores. I bought one for my young sister a few years back. Well I'm just wondering, what age do you think is appropriate for an easy bake oven? My daughter is going to be 6 in a month, and I'm thinking this would be a nice gift for her for either her birthday or Christmas. She's very mature for her age, like most little girls are. She's also very bright. I think she'd do well with this toy. What do you think?

If it were me I'd get it for her. You may have to supervise for a while. I remember when I got one of these. I was ecstatic. Back then girls wanted to be "Just like Mom" and whenever one of us got the latest "homemaker" toy we were beside ourselves. I remember baking cakes that my older brother would eat in just one bite. LOL Of course I wasn't the pain in the butt little sister at that moment, he was nice to me while I was "baking for him"!

That's cute! Yeah I think she'll like it. She loves to watch me cook. I don't let her do much in the kitchen because it's not safe and it slows me down and makes a mess, but if she had her own kitchen she'd be happy.

they do still sell them. they actually have a disney princess one too. i think your daughter is old enough. my daughter had one given to her last year so she was only around 4 or 5 and she did fine with it. i helped her and guided her through it but she loved it.

Aww, she'd love the Disney Princess one. I didn't know because of course I haven't really been looking for them.

According to Hasbro's site they are for ages 8 and up, but as long as you think she is mature enough to use it properly I don't think it would be a bad idea. Maybe have her use it with adult supervision the first few times she uses it. http://www.hasbro.com/easybake/default.cfm?page=Products/Detail&product_id=22205

I've never followed the manufacturers recommendations.. I just go by my own judgement of it I think my kids can handle it. I'll talk to my husband and see what he thinks. I never had one growing up, but his sister did, so he probably knows more about it than I do.

Six should be fine for an Easy Bake oven. As you said, she's mature and intelligent, so it sounds like she would be fine with it.

When I was a child of her age I loved that toy, it was not like a barbie or the other things I was growing out of, but it was something that made me feel more mature and creative, I would make my parents things and I would feel so good about myself, I don't think I ever tasted anything I made from it though haha. Now I have a passion to cook, and my little easy bake oven may have sparked me to enjoy it so much. I think it would be a great gift for a child, it's like a step up from playing kitchen haha. Good luck and have a great day or night! Happy mylotting!
