Have you ever been caught up in doing something at the most innappropriate time?

I just read an old article about a jury being dismissed from a trial in Australia because they were caught playing Sudoku when they should have been listening to all of the evidence! A group of around 4 of them admitted they had spent half the trial doing this! It then made me think about when people hide a comic book in a text book in class, or secretly play a mobile game on their phone when they are at a conference etc (I have done the last one many a time to be honest. So what about you? Have you ever doen the same yourself and ended up lost in something that had absolutely nothing to do with what you were supposed to be doing at the time? Did you end up getting caught?

Its a kind of craze what people have in different level at different ages as well based on the environment. I remeber i played book cricket when i was in school and we play carrom with coins in college days and you are right we pass on messgs when we are in meeting and many times if the person who is standing in front (speaker of the class/meetings ) looks at us then we just make a smile and show ourselves as participative/attendive

lol. Yes, I think many of us were quite clever at being able to hide what we were actually doing and especially in the classroom! When you consider how many kids the Teacher used to have to try to keep her eye on all the time it was never really that difficult either. Thanks for the response.

There a few activites i can remember which may be termed inapproprate in terms of expected corporate or classroom behaviour, but never got caught. But it's not the serious type in that sense but more browsing, playing games, puzzles , reading books and of those kind. There was one which happened which was quite embarassing more than anything else and although i did not get reprimanded for it , but sure cannot forget it. It was a few years ago at a construction site that i was incharge off. Late in evening waiting for my boss to come. Mosquito infested area. So here i was , irritated on being made to wait with mosquitoes buzzing around adding to the level of frustration. A cardboard piece in my hand and there i was practising some cricketing shots on these mosquitoes and counting the numbers going down. All of a sudden here was my boss behind me with a puzzled look on his face , something like trying to laugh and be annoyed at the same time. Although he did not mention it agian, he did have a dig at me indirectly on a couple of occasions. BTW James and a zero response. Impossible , you know your friends will catch up with them .

I am happy to see that none of these activities involved an epilator and a hairdryer at least alok! Phew. The scenario with the mosquito batting is very funny because there is no way your Boss could have possibly seen the mosquitoes so imagine how you must have looked! If I had of seen this I would have kidded you about it for ages myself, so I am not surprised that he did the same. The more I think about it though the more I am convinced that this sounds like a pretty fun way or handling mozzies! lol. All I need now is some cardboard and a vaid reason for my wife concerning why I wish to leave the window open tonight..... Thanks for the response. (And I appreciate that my friends will come to the rescue but there was a bit of a longer wait than usual this time! You know how it is! lol)

This isn't very interesting....but I can remember being caught writing notes to my friends when I was in 9th grade. I was really caught in a fix because the teacher who caught us was a family friend and there were lots of mention of one particular boy in class (with me being teased with the 'poor' fellow). Of course, I had a lot of explaining to do after that. To this day, I do not know if he ever spoke to my father about it (which was what I was worried about at that point ).

lol....my dad is a very smart man...and it's quite possible that he knew and was silent about it.....he's famous for 'snaring his victim'. But it wouldn't have made a difference if the teacher read the note in class....because ALL of us were circulating the note and there were just 15 of us girls in class. My dad once found a really romantic letter written by a boyfriend (that I had hidden) and made a copy of it before he returned it to the 'hiding' place. I found out only because I happened to look for it when he had taken it. I found it later that day in the same place. A couple of years later, I found the copy when I was looking for something among his papers.

The worst thing is when the Teacher intercepts a note and then decides to read it to the entire class! I have seen this happen a number of times and it can get pretty embarrassing if the note contains anything too personal! It seems that maybe they spared your Father from this event otherwise he may have saud something. Either that or he is a master of mental torture! lol. Thanks for the response.

Hmmmmm. No, and no. Damn, I am a boring old thing! When I was in school, I liked learning, so I payed attention. When I started working, I was intent on doing my job and getting the hell out of there.

Hahaha. Well you can't get more BUSTED than that! You didn't say what the end result of all of this was though Bo? At least you didn't end up overdosing on sugar and tearing up the place in a sucrose filled frenzy, so I hope they went easy on ya! I was pretty damn happy to get school over and done with myself actually but I wasn't able to exhibit the same enthusiasm and reserve for learning that you managed to. Thanks for the response.

Ha ha this one makes me laugh! I do that when I was in school. I pretend to study and then in my book hidden is a romance pocketbook. No one though have caught me before. I do that too, playing games on my phone while in a meeting (maybe that is why nobody hired me again LOL)

Hello, my friend. Hmm... It seems risky to play Sudoku in the middle of the trial, lol. Of course I was caught done things in the innappropriate time. I believe it happens a lot to all of us when we are all children. Now, this time I almost got caught. Me and two classmates were in the school, and there is a small and old room in there, used to keep cleaning products. The door had been forced, so people could get in and steal the products. The school then moved the products away, leaving the small room empty. What nobody knew was the passage in the roof, which would take you to the attic. So, there was me and my two class mates... We climbed in an old wardrobe there and jumped to the attic. We recorded a video in there, and when we were going down... We heard the voice of the director. The principal! We got all scared, but fortunately we could get out without being noticed. If we got caught... Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Hi munhozmib. It wasn't just rsiky but also not very smart. Of all the places to get caught oiut playing sudoku! lol. Budding filmmakers in an attic! It does sound very, very lucky you never got caught! I had a friend who did a similar thing at a restaurant we worked in and he fell through the roof! You can guess already that he DID get caught for that one. Thanks for responding.

He did get caught and you are certainly lucky it didn't happen, yes! It was very funny though because the section of roof his legs came through was directly above a line of people waiting to be seated!

Many a times I have done things at inappropriate time and a few times, I have been caught. This comic example which you have given is so true for me. Till a couple of years back, I often read novels (Mills & Boon, romantic classics etc) in a text book. A few times in class and mostly at home. Mom used to think that her daughter is busy studying. I can't tell you how guilty I felt. But the lure was just too much. Me and my friends had a bad habit of eating during class. We used to quietly open our's and sometimes other's lunch boxes too and gobble the tastier ones. LOL. But it had more to do with the thrill than hunger. Mad gang.... and once we did get caught and all of us were sent out of the classroom with the threat that next time they would call our parents.

I don't know what's worse Daffodil..... Not doing what you should have been doing or reading Mills and Boon novels! I used to eat in class as well and so did many other students. In the end we all had to leave our bags outside so we couldn't smuggle food in! lol. Thanks for the response.

Indeed I am, when I was a receptionist in a hotel, I kept reading a magazine in my counter, nobody ever notice it because the counter is high enough from the front side and I can safely read the magazine during my working hours. One day a guest complained about something that makes my manager had to look a the CCTV record to find what happenned that is when they found out I was reading magazine in the counter which I also never realized that there was CCTV camera behind my desk! I got a warning letter because of that and so I never do it again...

Oh no! So you think you are well covered by the high desk and then get busted on camera. That's terrible afternoontea but sorry to admit it but it is also quite amusing too! lol. Of all the things you could possibly get caught for and all the things you could possibly get caught WITH, this one is certainly unique! At least it was just a warning letter in the end. Thanks for the response.

I so rarely am doing what I'm 'supposed' to be doing that people are surprised when they catch me out being a 'good girl'. I remember once when my sister, my brother, and I were NOT supposed to be playing in the attic... I don't remember what we were supposed to be doing instead - maybe nothing - but one of us missed the rafter as we were chasing each other around and their leg went through the ceiling. We all disappeared when my mother came home but there was really no hiding that gaping hole in the ceiling that clearly announced what we had been doing. Of course there would have been no time that was more appropriate than another to get busted on that issue.

Actually this is not a bad way of covering our a@@es at all. Keep doing the bad things until it becomes an expectation..... Perfect! lol. What I never got with my own Parents was why the heck did they ever make such an effort to tell me NOT to do someting or NOT to go to a certain place etc? This is like locking a fat kid in a shipping container full of chocolate and telling him not to eat anything! The minute the forbidden aspect was relayed to me I was off like a shot planning how I could get away with breaking this immediately! You sure the gaping hole wasn't made by rats?

At least it was a relevant drawing then magojordan! What I used to loathe was when the Teacher would end up showing what we were writing or drawing to the whole class so they could prove a point! lol. Thanks for responding.

Hi James! I as working as a loan officer in a bank. As I was checking on the post dated checks of my client I overheard another client, a chinese guy, talking to one of the employees on how to go about getting a check for his loan in his name. His wife was the one approved for the loan because she was the filipino citizen. He was quite persistent because he doens't want to get a check on his wife name. I was facing him backwards and I thought I heard the door closed. Thinking it was the chinese guy, I blurted out a nasty comment that was running over my head while this was happening. Then what do you know, it was the employee who went out the door and not the chinese guy. He turned his back to face me and made a squiching sound from his chair to let me know he heard me. I saw him from the side of my eyes with that look that could eat a shark. LOL I pretended, I didn't say anything. LOL. But I could feel myself melting. such a biatch!

Hi sheena. Now this is a pretty embarrassing situation to be caught up in! I hope they left soon after so you could stop melting! I have been caught out like this a few times over the phone actually when I used to make a lot of telemarketing calls many years ago. I think the other person has hung up and I will make some smartass comment then immediately realize that they are still there! Thank goodness this has been over a phone and not face to face otherwise it could have been even more horrifying for me. Oh well, sometimes they deserve it I reckon! Thanks for responding.
