Postal Service

I live in a rural area (city). I am sitting here now waiting on the mailman, that is how I get my mail. The postal service usually runs between 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm Monday thru Saturday. Neither rain, snow, sleet, hail or any other bad weather can stop our postal service.
My sister has a post office box. She has to go to the post office everyday if she wants her mail.
How do you get your mail?

the mailman delivers mine, thank heavens. i don't get out everyday so a box at the p.o. would be a pain besides they are quite expensive here.

I am lucky to live in an older section of town where we get ours right at the door. I don't miss having to walk to the post box to get my mail. Canada Post has voted 88% in favor of a stike come Nov. so I may not be getting any mail soon enough!

Well, we have ours delivered from a Postman, and since we live in Condos, ours is a locked one as well, so we have no real worries. As expensive as PO Boxes are getting around here, I think I will continue to stick to the more convenient ways of Mail delivery for sure.

My mail comes from the mailman, to my mailbox. He even knows me. I have had the same postman for years. He whistles while he works. I have had a post office box for the reason that I worked and my hubby's check came in the mail and I had some mail disappear. I like home delivery better.

No, I probably should, though. He is terrific. I can tell his days off and when we have a substitute.

Hi chevee! Iget my mail delivered to my mailbox right
around the same time as you do everyday between 12-2:00PM
except on the day my regular mailman is off. That day
the mail comes whenever the substitute mailperson gets
here and we never know when that will be. Even in the
really bad weather my mailmam sticks to his schedule. I
always open the door to see how he is if I'm home and
the weather is bad outside. I feel so bad for him. He has
alot more years before he can retire. He is a great guy!
I always offer him a cold drink in the summer and a hot
drink in the winter but he never will take anything. I
try to make sure that I tip him for Christmas because he
is such a good mailman! Do you tip your mailperson?

If our regular postman delivers our mail, it usually comes between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00p.m. If it's a substitute, there's no telling when we'll get the mail. Substitutes have to do their route first, so it's understandable that ours would be late. Sundays and Federal holidays are the only time they don't deliver.

I have a residential mailbox, similar to the one in the picture you posted. Like you, I have to wait for the mailman to deliver my mail.
I used to have a post office box, but I don't like having to pay a fee for having one, or always having to drive to the post office to pick up my mail. I would much rather have the mailman deliver it!

i live in a townhome association, and a certain groups of homes have mailboxes in one area, kind of like apartment complexes. the mailman comes mon thru satur. at 1pm, but off on sunday. on holidays like christmas, thanksgiving and easter, postal service as well as garbage pickup day has a day off.

I use a post office box even though we can get mail at our homes in the small town I live in. It is more convenient for me. I started using po boxes years ago, when I was moving often. It was easier to get my mail in one place and not have to change the mailing address to everyone I knew. So that is how I have kept it.

i have the same here as you. i used to have to go down to the corner when i lived in AZ. there were boxes there to each house and you had to have your keys. i hated it.

Very interesting discussion, wouldv never thought of it! Anyway, the mail is delivered here round 1:30 - 2:30pm Mon - Sat, but on occasion is pretty late! U can option to have a P O Box or have the post office hold it for you, but that's only if you have very important documents or don't want people to know where you live, like tenants and things of that nature! But, I refuse to pay extra, outside of taxes, to have my regular mail delivered!

Unless it is a package, I just walk out to the street and get my mail from my mailbox. Packages are supposed to be delivered to my door, though sometimes the mailperson gets too lazy to drive to the back house and the leave me a slip telling me I have to go to the post office and pick it up
