did you ever get the strap in school?

I am not saying that I was a bad guy or a trouble maker but it does seem to me that I had gotten the strap on a number of occasions while in public school. First that I remember was when we were throwing snow balls at the girls and they lined us all up in the hall and gave us some lashes. Then I was a dunce in the corner with one of those goofy hats on and everybody laughed at me. Then years later at a different school I got the strap for throwing rubbers in the class room. They sent me down to the principal's office and he told me to hold out my hands. When he went to hit me I pulled my hand away and he chipped off a corner of his desk. That really pissed him off. I still graduated years later with honors to my teacher's surprise. Crocket.

I got the strap, and the paddle! I was a bad boy in school and got lots of punishment for it. I wish they would bring it back. Teachers today are such wimps, and they are afraid of their students or the parents. it's ridiculous. A good butt whipping would certainly help a lot of these kids today. All they want is a babysitter instead of a teacher so they don't care if they misbehave in class. Bring back corporal punishment!

hi fwidman love that shoe oh my do you really think being beat on helps. I know we all feel at times when we meet a rowdy ornery teen that he should have been whipped, but I always felt that beating just engendered the same abuse when they grew up and had kids. being beat often goes way to far, would you have them half kill a child just to prove a point? I was never punished after the third grade a nd I grew up to be a law abiding citizen all my adult life. course I am a female but...

Yeah, Hatley, I do believe in that kind of punishment The only time I "beat" my kids was when they got to that age that all boys get to and thinking they could beat up their old man. One I picked up and tossed over the car hood, the other I dragged across the living room and threw on his bed. After that, things were very peaceful around the house

By the time I was in school the didn't use this sort of punishment. So no I never got the strap or anything like it. If they had tried they would have had to deal with my mother. And that would have been interesting. No one touches her babies.

hi crocket oh yes when i was in the third grade and my teacher did not like the way I had done my penmanship, she hit me over the knuckles of my right hand, and drew blood as the ruler she struck me with had a metal edge. I was so angry I got up, got my coat, and ran down the street to my dad, the Doctor's office. He looked at my hand and bandaged the cuts. then he drove me back to school and walked into her class holding my hand. He yelled at her, if you ever strike my child again you will find yourself out of a job, I just spoke to Superintendant Austin he says you do this again to any sudent you are immediately fired. do you understand Me? She stammered and said Yes, doctor Clark. from then on no more punishments at all. later on I had her in the fifth grade and she made sure I was passed from the fifth to the seventh grade.she was altoghether different that year and I really did learn from her after all.that was the only time I ever had physical punishement in my grade school or high school.
